PM Tony Hall. I don't think he's that far from you - the company that sorted his wheels done a fantastic job.

Josh,
Can I ask what you are doing about the TPMS sensors when you get your wheels refurbished.

I was thinking about changing my alloys to the AM 20 Spoke alloys from the 2009 MY cars, however I have been looking into the issue of the TPMS sensors.
They are circa £100 each to replace and after researching on this forum I contacted the German company that manufactures the valve only part of the TPMS sensors, but they would not sell them to me and neither would their agents in the UK (dealer supply only)

I believe a BMW valve can be fitted the the sensor housing itself and I priced these at the local BM dealer £15 each for the valve only

That is the risk here as I believe the valve can get broken when removing them from the existing alloy wheel and if you have to replace them its £100 each from AM as they only sell the complete unit not just the valve itself.

Next door to Trinity Engineering- Surrey. Have used them do a great job.

Re Tyre sensors, they didn't damage mine and decent Tyre places know all about them these days, lots of cars have them.
Having seen what they look like it would take a right numpty to damage them.

Josh, how old is your car? TPMS sensors have a battery and therefore a working life of around 6 years I think.

It's advised (from memory) to change them out if this date is coming up!

I have changed my Alloys 3 different times and had no problems with the TPMS other than the warning coming on for 30 secs and then off go off which has happened twice in the last month.Reckon its down to tyre pressure fluctuation.
I think it can be more a case of which technician does the change over as one Aston garage could not get the light off when swopping alloys and the other Aston garage technician sorted the problem in minutes.

Josh, don't think you have to talk about the reason for the refurb. If its a painful mistake, fine, no worries, but you didn't really need to bring attention to it in the first place did you?

Hi
Never dinged an alloy before so decided to ask for advice on here as it it generally a very friendly place. Hence the post. smile

Proper annoyed at myself. Had a great weekend staying over in London and then leaving the hotel car park I caught the drivers front alloy. Twice. In different places! That was just plain stupid.

Got some good info from various people. Thanks all. Will set about repair next week. I blame the kids who were singing in the back as we left the car park wink. They are really enjoying being out in it as a family. They have even started to wave at the people taking photographs and video as we drive through the city. smile

Best regards

Josh

Josh, trust me when I say the we could start an entire new thread on mistakes we have made. As Nick says......it's just a car and they are only wheels. They can be fixed and if the worse thing about this is that you feel the need to have a red face, then you've got off lightly. Forget it pal, oh, and the kids are clearly to blame........dock their pocket money for distracting you at a critical phase. wink

Hi Josh

These are just over the border in Swindon : http://www.platinumwheelrefurb.com/

I used them to do my diamond cut alloys a few weeks ago and they made a superb job of them. They used to be part of Lepsons but are now independent.
