Hi all

Looking to track a DBS Volante but the noise level limits are 98bd static and then 96db drive-by.

Will a DBS be ok?

Cheers

I think that you will find the noise level on your V5 unless you have had it modified since it left the factory.

Not modified, but I wonder if when you're at whatever revs the track force you to hold it at the valves open and it becomes much louder?

Castle Combe is one of the most stringent at 100dB static. A standard DBS should pass easily, when I had standard exhausts on my V12V they did not bother to noise test me.

This is potentially for Goodwood whose limit is 98db static and 96 moving!

Static test will be at about 4000 rpm and I'd be confident it would pass assuming fuse 22 is working as intended. However a drive by at 6000 rpm may be a different story. Would be a good question of the Bamford Rose thread as I'm sure with their exhaust (ive) work they will have lots of before and after readings. Would be a good addition to the FAQ as well.BTW you can drop into most operating track days and get them to do a sound check on the basis you want to do one of theirs! Good luck with trackday.

Cant say for a DBS, however, took my V8V to snetterton last month, track limit on the day was 102db. Tester wanted me to take the car to 6000rpm, as max revs is not far off 8000..... the V8 failed, coming in at 103 db... I blagged it a bit by saying that fuse 22 was out, not that it would have made any difference, and he did pass me. According to a few mates the v8 was a lot louder than most cars there, and there were some loud cars, but no black flag and the day went without a hitch after that....

Apart from the brakes being god awful!!!

I assume the DBS would be louder still....
