DB7 values, on the up?
Discussion
Tough one...
By no means rare but still very beautiful. If you buy rough and improve, and then maintain well then it'll increase in value but I assume you'll also be adding miles...
Vantage and DB9 are still dropping, though ever more slowly now. A nice Seven is probably static if you take out dealer premium. Buy an AMOC / cherished private car and maybe, just maybe.
Get a manual, rare car.

on the up not sure but not to cover the cost of owning one, no.
depreciation, i doubt it but then again you have to spend to keep them good.
nice car the i6 and relatively inexpensive to keep on the road as most parts not bespoke.
a usuable reliable ish car that can go touring easily.
gazillions made though so not exactly rare in any way that would shove the values through the roof anytime soon.
my 2 cents

I owned an i6 Volante recently. Liked the engine and the auto gearbox - believe it or not. I renewed the brakes, tyres, rubbers, you name it on mine and it was still a bit of a mare on poor roads, walking around all over the place and especially under braking on broken tarmac. I had it checked by several specialists and all of them commented on the fact it was the best they'd ever seen and driven!! I sold it shortly after that, it just wasn't for me. I put some of it down to the enormous weight of the wheels simply not working with the suspension setup. It could probably have been reduced with some lightweight forged wheels and better dampers, but who knows. I regret selling it in some ways, it sounded lovely with the supercharger whine and had plenty of character, and was very, very pretty. Try one on some mixed roads and see what you think. Plenty of people aren't as fussy as me!

As others have said, there were too many made to become rare any time in the foreseeable future.
Gaydon cars are starting at under £30K now and while they are still dropping I think 7 prices can only go down. I honestly think you'll be able to get a slightly ratty i6 for 4 figures next winter, and a similar V12 for £15K.

Thanks guys,
I sold my DB9 to move to a DB7 Vantage and managed to find a great car with a manual box but now i can't stop looking at the simple volante. The more I look at them, the more I like them. I'd end up running the volante on sunny days and think it would be great to have both. Agree, it would probably be cheaper to run ( but with lots of parts needing changing) but it's crazy what they are selling for now especially compared to some of the classic (and reliable) roadsters. A lot of car for the money. Given how few of these were built, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up going up in value more than the 7vantages. I doubt the modern v8 vantages/ db9s will go up in my life time.

Been watching the prices of the Volante and now the sun is supposed to be out there are some higher prices; the usual convertible selling season.
Not that many made really, so one day they will go up, no doubt.
Agree that you may get a cheap 7 (not Volante) for under £10,000 in the next 12 months.
But if you like the car and want one, what's stopping you. Go for it.

If you are elderly or have a short life expectancy, then fair enough!

There were just under 800 i6 Volantes made so that number does make this particular model quite rare especially if you allow for some write offs and a lot of left hookers over the sea.
Many say this site is NOT reliable but perhaps it gives an idea(?)

Verminator has one of 118 manual Vantages and the figures on this site might seem fairly accurate, showing 98 for 2012.
Unfortunately they do not list the i6 separately. You can however look at DB7 auto (coupe and Volante). Maybe someone on AMOC can answer you more accurately.

Nice, is there a reliable website that would show how many of each version/gearbox were built including the vantages? I presume a few may have been stacked by now.

astonmartins.com is probably the most comprehensive resource for this. Careful though, you'll lose hours reading!
