Hiya,

I've had my DB9 (08 - MY09) for a few days now and I'm loving it of course (despite numerous dealer mistakes - another story). There is one thing that is a little out of place though; the boot seems to close with the finess of a brick being thrown into a steel drum. The rods to a fine job of keeping it open but when you close it, it just seems clunky, almost like some sort of dampening mechanism is missing or broken.

Does that make sense? I'd love to hear from other DB9 owners to see if they are of the same opinion. It's not a problem per se, but if something is wrong then I'll need to raise it with the dealer.

Thanks.

Same here. Let it go midway down and it drops with a thud.

The boot weighs a ton, so I let it drop from six inches. BTW I have just fitted new gas struts and it has made no difference whistle

Ah ok thanks guys. I suspected it was a 'feature' but had to check there wasn't something up with my car that needed raising.

Are you at liberty to say what the 'dealer mistakes' were....?

I have a 2006 DB9 Coupe. This all sounds too familiar.
Dealer "mistakes" and heavy boot lid closing etc......

Mine is actually hitting the rear bumper on closing and taking the paint off both parts.
On complaint, the dealership is going to rectify under warranty though.

My local dealer has been the picture of perfection since I started looking around. They've provided everything you would expect from a high-end marque. However, because I was on the hunt for an early MY09 with low mileage etc etc my car was a little harder to find. One eventually popped up lets say around the 'Birmingham area'. So instead of using my local dealer I engaged with this other (still official) dealer.

Problem began once we started to talk about finance. I tend to play dealers off against Oracle finance to see what they can muster. On this occasion the dealer came up with a deal that Oracle said was impossible. I raised my concerns to the dealer and they assured me that they can offer the deal on this car. Cut a very long story short, they couldn't. The dealer then proceeded to apply with other lenders (thus performing additional credit checks) on my behalf without my knowledge. I finally said enough is enough and told them that they don't seem to have a clue what they were doing.

The other mistakes are really just annoyances I guess; like having to constantly remind them to do things when it's already been discussed (and emailed). Small details like the armrest not being delivered with the car and the ECU leather pouch being forgotten to be ordered. I've just had my Aircon regassed at Kwikfit of all places because it was missed by the supplying dealer (many many miles away) my local dealer is booked up until mid-June. Just very annoying really.

Just to rub salt into the wounds when the delivery driver arrived, he went to shake my wifes hand and promptly dropped the glass ECU on the drive and smashed it. Now this isn't the fault of the dealer per se but once again, it's annoying.

Thanks. Well depending on how you are financing it I can highly recommend Oracle, they are apparently the Uk's No1 car finance company and they know what they're doing. Email me if you'd like contact details etc.
