Rapide Shooting Brake
Discussion
I know it has been seen before but Autocar have just done a road test of it and reckon Aston are considering a limited production run. I have always wanted an Aston shooting brake and oh how I would love to be able to afford this if they do produce it. Will it be a Centenary model? Now, where's that lottery ticket?

I think they should drop the Rapid S and make the Jet the Standard Rapid.
Better car, better differentiation for purpose.

Some of the detailing is a little too fussy, but overall deals with most of the objections of the Rapide. Looks like there is room to move the rear seats back a couple of inches in a production version, thus negating another criticism.
It is hardly brand dilution as Aston kept itself afloat in the 70s and 80s on random things like this on the whim of Sheikhs etc surely? They are putting effort into the 'Works' side aren't they?
I don't like the back end much but you have got to love people still getting Bertone and Zagato etc to produce things like this.
I have a strange affinity with these things like the Jag based Lynx Eventer and a Lotus Elan +2 shooting brake I have seen in Classic Cars too. My Dad loves and estate and I would have one at some point over an Evoque or other soft roader ( might be harsh on the evoque as I really mean Cayenne, X5, X6 etc ). I want to try the fast Audi estates at some point.

Can Aston not just make sports cars anymore?
Arguably Aston don't make sports cars. They make Grand Tourers with varying degrees of sporting intent. Maybe the DB4 GT was a sports car, but its name indicates otherwise
They'd be stupid not to produce an SUV soon and more of this stuff to sell to emerging markets. Above all else, they must survive.
Yes thanks Yeti. But you know exactly what i mean.
SUV's to survive. Pah! Make them under the Lagonda badge.
The CC100 is a massive step in the right direction. Those Bertone horror's are unforgivable.
On the subject of survival, rather than d*ck about with variations on the same theme Aston need to get their brains back into gear. Remember the impact the DB7, V8 Vantage, and DB9 had when they were launched? Nothing could touch them for style. They are all beautiful cars (unlike the Bertone versions), they were spot on.
Aston need to capture that vibe again. That's how they will survive. Inspire us AML and stop mucking about.
