Bit of praise for good work done - AMR
Discussion
So my car, 2006 V8V, 58k miles, needed clutch replacement and some other bits attending to.
I decided to give Dave Appleby's Generation AMR team a go.
Dropped the car off a couple of weeks ago and left it with them whilst I was away filming in Barcelona.
Within a day I had pictures of my clutch disassembled and the mess that it had become, sent to my phone from Dave.
During the following few days I also received photos of the other areas of the car that needed attention. Namely the driveshaft, oil filter and rear tyre.
Along with the pictures Dave explained the condition of each part and the options available to sort them.
Rather than go for a standard clutch replacement and not fancying the more expensive GT4 twin plate clutch and lightened flywheel, I opted for the mid-ground AP Racing clutch. And Dave ascertained that the flywheel was definitely salvageable so skimmed it and fitted it all back together.
They also cleaned up and replaced some minor parts in/around the driveshaft that were causing some noise/vibrations.
Total labour time for all this work (clutch, skimming flywheel, replacing oil and filter (race spec oil), drive shaft clean up, road test AND clean the wheels up nice) was 12 hours.
And at a very competitive price that I was happy with.
Also a huge wealth of information and advice about these cars (vantage) which I really appreciate.
I am very happy with the service and quality that Dave provided and will be taking my car there for its 7 year service in October. I'll also be discussing performance upgrades with AMR in the near future.
