Sp10 anyone ? Yes - Meeeeee !!!!
Discussion
Done the deed! SP10 Roadster on order, due end July/Aug. decided to exchange my year old Vantage Roadster after an offer I really couldn't refuse from Stratstone Cardiff.
Tried to persuade Wifey that Carbon Bucket seats were best, but lack of back adjustment and no heated bottom resulted in standard ones!
Don't think I'll have it in time for Molly's meet
but Stratstone have promised to lend me something Aston for the weekend as I've agreed to give them mine at the end of June

Really pleased for you Martyn. I had spotted on another thread you said this was on order and had really hoped you would have it for the July meet. Ah well, I think you had better impress upon the dealer how important it is that he loans you something to impress a big bunch of Aston owners (potential customers)

I still don't understand what the SP10 is all about.
Isn't this "just" a regular V8 Vantage S with a fixed "mostly black" spec?
If not, then what exactly is different? I asked different people at Aston Martin and I can't get a definitive answer.
I've even driven it (coupe with SportShift) and couldn't notice a difference with a regular coupe sportshift SSII.

It has a manual option previously unavailable on the SIsn't this "just" a regular V8 Vantage S with a fixed "mostly black" spec?

SP10 has an S badge on the rear - it says SP10 on the door and under-bonnet plaques
SP10 offers a few options over and above 'S' spec, for a base price substantially lower than the S base price, in fact near to the regular vantage price. Some of the options are equipment, some are cosmetic.
But you can order an SP10 in any colour
So you effectively can't order a 'regular' S any more as there is literally no point (you get a lesser spec on the base S car for more money) - I've spoken to 2 dealers who ordered/specced 'S' cars, to find SP10s arriving at their dealerships....
Thanks folks..it's the standard spec plus heated seats and glass knobs. Basically it has all I want as standard. I did enquire about a different colour but was told it would be £3-4K extra! Should have spoken to Jonby first!
Will keep the pressure on the dealer for early delivery or I'll dig out the pipe and slippers in case I'm loaned a 9

I've emailed Mike at Bamford Rose to find his lead time for possible manifolds and cats. It would be great to send it straight to him but guess the timing will not work out. Next to plan is the Ventureshield to get it protected as soon a spossible. Will post photos when it arrives.

It would appear the S gains front parking sensors and premium audio as standard over the SWill keep the pressure on the dealer for early delivery or I'll dig out the pipe and slippers in case I'm loaned a 9

But I'm not sure what 'sports suspension' is, stated as being available only on the coupe - there's no such option on the S
I have no idea what they charge for a different colour - ceramic grey which is the standard SP10 colour is a £2.5k option on V12R, may be £3.5k on V8 Vantage. But knowing aston it wouldn't surprise me if they still charge a premium for having an alternative colour on SP10 to CG. However even at 4k for an alternative colour, if SP10 is 10k less than the S to start with, it's still worth speccing an SP10 and then saving 6k over an S in the same colour

The Roadster is a great choice.. just in time for summer
if it is SP10 standard colour as well.....Ceramic Grey really suits the Vantage... Bet you can't wait.. enjoy the beast.
Yes Ceramic Grey it is - does look great. And I love the black interior! Next month or so will be quite frustrating as I'm trying to keep the miles down on my car too - 8 K and counting. Ah we'll it'll probably rain 'till August!

I did consider a V12, but the roadsters are a bit over my current budget and Wifey just ordered a new kitchen !

From experience do a few miles with the car as standard, then take it to BR for the manifolds and cats. That way you will appreciate the power hike . Ask Bamford Mike he will agree. It is not just the power and sound but the added flexibility. Also I think it is vital that when done Mike should re jig the exhaust valves to open at 5500 rpm not 3600rpm that way you can drive reasonably quickly without being in a wall of V8 explosive sound. Then when you hit the sport button all Hell will let loose! Fanbloodytastic!!!!

OK Rob...good advice, will talk to Mike. Only problem is that like you he'll try to convince me that the adjustable suspension is the thing to have! Wife will have no cooker in new kitchen at this rate!!
