Hi. I read somewhere that the windows on a Volante do not go up, once the roof is down. Is that true?

The little rear quarter windows do not go back up, when the roof has been lowered.

Don't know why, but they don't.

The side windows can be raised or lowered at will, roof up or down, but the rear quarter windows are usually linked to the roof operation.

Interesting Gdc!.... so you can raise and lower the rear quarter windows independently when the roof is down? If that is right what MY is your car?

TT2 is the name of the automatic gearbox, TouchTronic II. It has zero bearing on whether the rear windows go up smile

FWIW, my 2006 Volante the rears do not go up without the roof. I would like them too just to help 'winterise' the car a little bit more. The more often the roof is off, the better. Grant, any ideas; is it just an ECU thing? New roof module?

Hi Lewis, good input as always....as far as I'm aware the rear quarter windows only ( officially!) work in conjunction with the roof action, that's why I was interested in Gdc's response. There was a new improved roof module ( and roof layer etc) introduced on the 09MY Volante, but this was primarily to improved refinement.

I remember quizzing George about this; once his roof is down and all windows down, he can then flick his roof button and the rears will go up. Wonder if this is part of the 09 module update scratchchin

Mines an 06 and doesn't have it, I think George has an 09/10.

Gentlemen,
fall is coming but the weather here in Luxembourg is still warm, so that driving "roof-down" is a real pleasure.
The only inconvenience is that I cannot raise the rear quarter windows (RQWs), also in order to maintain the side windows somehow firmer.
I understand that more recent DB9 Volante than mine (MY 2007) have this facility (reportedly, since 2009).
I was told that any "intervention" would jeopardize the whole mechanism, since it would be noticed by the relevant electronic monitoring device.
On the other side, it should not be so difficult to arrange for a "side-switch" to feed their motorised device for the lapse of time needed to raise each RQW, once you find out where is located the relevant circuit ("we" all did it for the Fuse 22, didn't we?).
The only care would be to lower the RQW's again before raising the roof, in order to avoid to cheat the electronic monitoring of the roof mechanism.
Any suggestion will be welcome.
