Didn't renew the AM warranty when it expired last month. Like all insurance add-ons, they're waste of money if you don't claim or money well spent if something goes pop.

Warranty Direct are offering a 'Lite' version for £360pa over 2 years or £340pa over 3 years. Most major components are covered to the value of the car, but conditional upon the car necessitating a roadside assistance callout.

I'm tempted - £350 pa to cover the engine / gearbox / abs system etc etc seems fairly reasonable ............ your thoughts???

I'd have thought a lot of very expensive problems would not necessarily result in a breakdown. In fact I can only think of one occasion in 30 years of driving when I've had an expensive failure that has left me stranded (oil cooler failure). So I'd say it's not worth it due to the small likelihood of ever being able to claim. Either get a decent (and expensive) warranty or don't bother at all and take the risk. I've done one of each on my two main cars!

These warranties are by and large a waste of money , everyone I have spoken to complains of the same old get outs when the muck hits the fan, a friend of mine had a turbo blow, and was told it was not covered because it was a fair wear and tear item, hows that! Mike

I quite agree.

I wouldn't bother with this type of warranty on this car.

warrenty direct.....a complete and utter con and a waste of time....they know every trick not to pay out...i know of people who have tried to claim....have been told to wait until the part fails totally , of course when that happens the damage and repair bill higher...then they put a limit on the claim to a fraction of cost , then they tell you that you are liable to pay the bill in full....and they rembirse you.....ye...good luck with that one....

I have only had good experiences with Warranty Direct. They paid out just over £20k in 18 months on my wife's old RS6 and they've just paid the full bill, less £50 excess to replace the alternator in our E63. The garage made one call to WD, they agreed to pay out, I settled the bill and sent the claim off. I had that cheque within a week.
