So I did my 1st ever track day yesterday.... I have never been on a track before and the only thing I can keep thinking is why have I deprived myself for so long.... It was the most intense fun ever...
I had an all day one on one tuition with a really nice guy called Euan Hankey, at Silverstone's international circuit, What a touch... We had the whole track to ourselves for pretty much the whole day, with the exception of 2 Ferraris and 2 Astons that appeared for about 2 laps then left.
So, never been on a track before and never driven on slicks before.. What an experience.. I had no idea that my car was so capable and even surprised myself as to how capable I am... By the end of the day was wizzing round.... I managed to do 2 tanks of fuel and completely scrub out a set of Dunlops...
I am really glad I had those wheels and tyres as my road going boots wouldn't have lasted 2 seconds....
I enjoyed myself so much I cant wait to get back on the track... I am booking another tuition day and have already booked my ARDS test in July... So will be looking for an arrive and drive..
I would just quickly like to say a massive thank you to Dave and James Appleby from Generation AMR for sorting out a decent set of track day wheels and slick tyres which James threw on the car for me and was kind enough to swap them back over after, even though they were flat out getting loaded for the weekend... Great guys & what a workshop!!!!!!!! I will be heading back there for the 200 cell cats, GT4 induction kit and possibly some better brakes...

Young James getting the wheels on... Really nice lad...

at the end of the day and 2 tanks of fuel later...

Lucky Boy!!I also have a day on the track sorted for later in the year but it's one of those "Red Letter Days" offers. Driving a prepared DB9 and then
shown how to really get a move on as a passenger in an Ariel Atom. Sounds awesome and I can't wait.

Those silver wheels look miles better than your current ones!
Really???? Not for long georgio... Track wheels, so off to be painted bright orange and re wrapped in some new sticky dunlops....

It does look very good here though, the wheels look spot on. Just the right size imo.

Glad you had a great day.
I was at the Prodrive track recently and the one thing that I discovered is that the Vantage is a big, heavy car. It is much, much better suited to the road than a track.
And slicks with road suspension and no cage? No thanks, not for me.
In saying that the car was great on the track, it held well in really fast cornering and kept it together in the chicains... I do also have stiffer lowering H&R springs fitted...I was at the Prodrive track recently and the one thing that I discovered is that the Vantage is a big, heavy car. Even with the traction off the back end behaved with no problems.... I will be back in the Aston on a track again no quibbles...

No issues at all with your backbox then, noise-wise? I'm amazed!!
Well..... My instructor did say that it was a tad loud... And that if there was anyone around that cared that day I could have had an early bath... LOLHe did also keep on about how nice it sounded.. A guy took some video on his phone of me banging round the track and I have it on my phone but cant upload video on here??? I must admit it does sound good.....
