The V12V Spa Treatment - aka TLC by Francis
Discussion
Francis recently mentioned in another thread that he was evaluating a new sealant from Asia (Japan) so I happily volunteered my recently acquired V12V Carbon Black to act as guinea pig. Francis spent two long days getting the car ready and then applying the magic potion...the results are as you can see excellent. I'm sure that much more than half the contribution to success is the proper preparation and Francis definitely knows his stuff in this respect and then some. Thanks again Francis, great job.

Wow! Looks stunning. I went for the 22PLE but Francis offered the other treatment. He has strips of his van bonnet done with each. I wonder which he will eventually recommend (or maybe he will offer the choice).
Based on my observations, the new stuff (Modesta BC-05) appears to slightly darken the appearance and gives a deeper shine - the marketing blurb says it is a "candy gloss" finish. The main attraction for me was the claimed longevity of the protection it gives. Time will tell on that one. I believe Francis feels that the BC-05 is a bit more tricky to apply but I will let him comment on that. drjonV12V said:

Yes he said it was trickier as the timing is important. As he was using the Paintshield premises for mine and we had a deadline I decided to go with what he knew best. Yours does look nice though.Mine ended up like this:

Looks beautiful, congratulations to you (and Francis of course). I didn't know about the Paintshield treatment until I read your thread but may consider it for the front of my car if I get any front respray in the future - the latter was also an idea from Francis. Mine ended up like this:

How can a car look simultaneously beautiful AND ferocious
Absolutely stunning, drjon (the car, not you).
What's your name and occupation?
Thanks for the kind words. My names is, Aston Martin Vantage V12 (Carbon Black Edition) but you can call me A for short, that is, just the A part, not the for short bit. Occupation, looking lean and mean and good to go.

Drjon - stunning car and what a great job. Black will always look fantastic
Thanks, I hope the shine lasts a good 2-3 years using this new product. It should be relatively straightforward to maintain the shine with this sealant and Francis has given me a 'wash and brush-up' regime to follow, and a list of cleaning products to use. Black does seem to suit this car very well.

What's happened to the chrome trim at the bottom rear window area of the driver's door? (Second picture)
Very well spotted, not sure what happened but that trim is being replaced under warranty next week, together with the seals between the rear window and door window. AML have been very good and very fast in sorting it out with my local dealer, I must say that I have been very impressed with AML's customer service department. drjonV12V said:

Sorry I didn't mean to put a downer on your thread but I'm a sucker for details!
Beautiful car you have.
Absolutely no problem, thanks for taking an interest; my family think I'm being a bit anal as usual (which I am of course) but an AM is a perfect thing so it should be kept perfect as far as inhumanly possible!Beautiful car you have.

Black more than suits the v12v, in fact I like it in any colour
The products Francis recommended are very good I just also bought them so recently. My wife thinks I was mad to buy 2 x swissvax buckets

That looks lovely. Loving the last pic.
The new sealant I applied was called modesta bc-05. Its a long lasting glass coat along the same lines as the 22ple sealant that ive applied to many of your cars. I noticed that it noticeably darkens and deepens the depth in the paint. The annoying thing is that its not as easy to apply as the 22ple in terms of wiping it off.
It does look like a promising product though and one that will be appearing on an aston again very soon.
Nice reflections....

Ive got both sealants on the bonnet of my van and ive noticed that the 22ple holds onto the water more the the modesta. We shall see what lasts longer, but im expecting the modesta will. Either one would be a must for long term protection though, especially through the winter months.
