Circuit de ramparts 2014
Discussion
I'm sure most of you will have heard of the Circuit de Rempart held in the SW of France every year in the town of Angoulême. For those that haven't, it's a street circuit around the most beautiful parts of the town, where madmen fro all over Europe, although primarily from UK, come to thrash the living day lights out of their vintage and more modern racers. Everything from old Buggatis to blower Bentleys, E types to 911's. the racing is full on and spectacular. The day before there is a "randonne" or drive out around the great local roads taking in some fabulous scenery which is open to all who wish to enter and is rapturously received by the locals as the cavalcade roars through the local villages. I'm going to miss it this year, due to work commitments, but am thinking of trying to organise something for interested Aston owners for next year. I live about 20 mins from Anguleme and have enough space at mine to take a few cars with camping in the grounds with use of the facilities in the house for showering etc. there is also plentiful accom and camping locally. I thought I would contact the organisers to try and arrange parking near the circuit for the cars, some grandstand seats, BBQ etc etc and a great weekend of racing and driving, depending on response and numbers. Also open to suggestions to make it a weekend to remember. Driving time from St Malo to mine is approx six hours including stopping for lunch, fuel etc. what do you think?
could be a nice idea, you could also join us on ASTON PASSION (http://aston-passion.com/phpBB3/index.php) the french Aston Martin forum to also organise this week end with the french club members.
We do AM outing on a regular basis, last one was a week end around Chablis beginning of June and the next are in Pays de loire in September and Nurburgring with visit of the Tech Center mid october with already 15 french AM (open to PH members as a matter of fact)

It's a great event and, as mentioned above, the Rallye de Charente on the Saturday (not forgetting the "bun fight" in the evening) is not to be missed. Sadly for me it clashes with a visit in Lake Garda this year but we'll be back in 2014. Pic from previous year amongst the vineyards

Sounds like a good plan. I'd like to get as many French enthusiasts involved as possible. Do you have any members in the Poitou Charente area?We do AM outing on a regular basis, last one was a week end around Chablis beginning of June and the next are in Pays de loire in September and Nurburgring with visit of the Tech Center mid october with already 15 french AM (open to PH members as a matter of fact)

I too have a holiday house outside of Angouleme and for the sixth year in a row am heading over with 3 Lotus cars. This year, however, am officially taking part in the Charante country run with Club Lotus France.
Look forward to seeing your Astons next year.. the trip is well worth it for those that are still undecided! and yes, there is a small Lotus and Aston connection... Jim Clark used to be in an Aston race team too.

What a great idea! I have done Angouleme twice, the first year with Classic Car Tours International in my 2007 Vantage and then (sad I know) from Bordeaux airport in a rental Renault. CCTI trip was via Portsmouth/St Malo and was pretty well organised, if a bit pricey compared to simply doing it yourself. However, I had never done a group event like that before and it was pretty good fun. I have also driven down to Nice a few times.
Angouleme is a great event, big enough to be interesting but small enough to be manageable. The traffic and parking are OK if you get there early enough in the morning. The surrounding countryside of the Dordogne is of course sublime. First year we stayed at Bourdeilles about 90 minutes drive away, second year stayed in Angouleme. There are pros and cons for both.
Last year I upgraded to a 2011 4.7 Vantage with Sport Pack so Angouleme trip sounds great. I will watch this space.

Dates are 20th to 22nd this year. Well worth the drive down as the weather is still fabulous in September. The poster for this years event is an Aston to honour the centenary, which can be bought through the website shop. I'm having one framed. A great memento of a great year. If anyone is coming down and fancies meeting up, let me know through the forum.
