Wheel/Knob Installed (for Wood Lovers-CF Haters Only)
Discussion
Interesting pics.
For years, I'd just accepted that cars had walnut in them, then it became less common, and therefore a bit dated. Now, having replaced walnut in my A8 with CF, walnut seems a bit unfamiliar and surprising.
The test is really if you'd have something like that in your house. I definitely wouldn't want walnut, nor highly coloured leather (red, green, blue) in my house, so would it be appropriate to get it in a car? For me, the answer is no, but there are people that have old furniture in their house, and some with highly coloured leather, and for people that like such things, then it would be great to have it in their car.
Have you thought about having the seats re-upholstered with buttons, in the Chesterfield style?

The OP by the nature of the Topic heading suggests that one cannot appreciate different styles of trim.
I think his car looks fine,a good job well done.
When I purchased my DB9V I had thought to get the wood grain trim but when I was shown a car with the piano black trim I liked that as well and that's what I bought.
Fortunately this topic has not yet attracted those with more extreme views expressed in strident fashion.

That's not a great test. I'd never have a house without a wine rack or a bath. These things however are ill advised in ones car. I know George likes to use the DB9 at his disposal for culturing rare forms of mould and has also in the past attempted to turn it into a (static) swimming pool, however I think he would endorse that neither are a good idea. The test is really if you'd have something like that in your house........ so would it be appropriate to get it in a car?

I've got walnut, mahogany and piles of worm infested oak in my house. The only carbon fibre in my house is shrouded by wood on the HiFi stand, forming the moderator on my rifle and used to make various parts of my road bikes (which are kept in the house). No desire for any wood in my car though. CF in the car would be fine.
So in essence... you're wrong

I also did the same originally (wood to olive leather), but thought better of it later on, so went back to the wood door trim. For some reason, photos seem to not do justice to the wood interior. In photos, I don't particularly like it myself, but "in the wood" it is much, much more pleasing to the eye. Go figure.
In any case, the original owner having spent a small fortune having AM produce these one-off wood panels for the radio surround and the console (including the oddments door) and the door trim and nav surround, I was/am loathe to switch them out to piano black. Love it or hate it, AFAIK there are no other AMs with such a configuration, so it will have to stay.
IMHO the wood trim is superb, the only downside being that after a few years, it starts to look faded or sun bleached. I don't know if this is inevitable or the result of neglect or what, or if the problem can be sorted and the wood refinished. If I was looking for a DB9 I would be looking for one of those with Iron Ore leather, and mahogany veneers. If matching wood gear knob, steering wheel etc was an option, I would have it. Burr walnut looks good, and unlike leather it doesn't show its age.
So I applaud this!
