DB9 door mirror glass keeps moving when I unlock car.
Discussion
Hi Guys wonder if any of you can help me? I have 2007 DB9 which has the 2009 MY door mirrors fitted, they look great, but there is a problem, the mirror glass keeps moving up & outwards when I unlock the car. The memory function does not seem to work properly with the later mirrors, it keeps putting them into the wrong position, does anyone know how I can fix this?
If this cannot be fixed does anyone know how can I disable the memory function to the mirrors? There are quite a few wires going to each mirror, maybe I can cut the one(s) that are for the memory function? The memory function is not important to me, I just need to stop the mirrors moving when I unlock the car. I still want to be able to adjust them electrically though.
Any suggestions would be apprciated.

Hi Steve,
I have a similar issue on my 2008 V8 Vantage - on opening the door (seems to be the trigger for setting mirrors to the memorized position) the driver's door mirror keeps on moving downwards, hitting the limit several times indicated by a loud gear-clicking sound. Unfortunately, I haven't found a solution yet and would like to know about a reset-procedure - if there is any.

Hmm. Beginning to wonder whether this is a door control module failure.
I'll be intrigued to see what David Exiges resolution is on this thread:-

I don't recall hearing of any issues with door electric gremlins and then 4 appear in as many weeks.
The door control module also deals with the mirror position and must also have hall sensors (or similar) to detect the mirror shell position. Makes you wonder....

Yep - me too. 2008 Vantage Roadster. Unlock the car and the passenger door mirror starts moving downwards. Also happens when I insert the key. The mirror reaches its limit then clicks away merrily.
AM have tried resetting the module, but with no success. Is there a fuse for the wing mirrors only? If so, I might just pull that.

I had a very similar issue when I switched to the second key. It's to do with the seat and mirror memory being synced to the key fob.
I think with the seat and mirrors set, key in ignition (can't remember if ignition on, off or engine running) I pressed M & 1 on the seat control. This synced the seat and mirror position to the key.
Hope it helps

I think I've already done that - I'll give it another try using the seat controls and the second key as well. Many thanks to all that replied, I have tried re-syncing the seats/mirrors as suggested, but it is still doing it. I'm guessing now the only way I can stop this happening is to cut the wire(s) on the door mirror cable that activates the memory for the mirror glass.
Does anyone know which colour wire(s) are for the door mirror glass memory?
Many thanks again for your help guys.

...or get an expert to actually fix it for you? Just a thought.Steve

It's the red wire. It's always the red wire. Unless they're trying to double bluff you in which case it's the blue.HTH
On a more serious note. If you don't want to stump up to fix it, I think the self folding mirrors can be disabled in the car setup (whether by dealer or through the setup page I don't know).
For the love of god don't go chopping wires!
Thanks for your responses & advise. I have already been to the so called experts, that is an Aston dealer who had told me that they had disabled the memory function to the mirrors, but clearly they have not done it. Which I am very unhappy about.
I am suggesting cutting a wire so I can avoid doing a 80 mile round trip back to the Aston dealer again.
I am not suggesting cutting a wire in the loom, just possibly a wire in the mirror housing to stop this issue occuring.

Hello, I have the exactly same problem. Passengers side mirror glass keeps pushing after unfolding. Anyone found a solution? It’s so frustrating!
Not an official solution, but a friend of mine had the exact same problem on his Fiesta ST, and I think I read somewhere that Aston mirror motor are actually Ford mirror motors, so I believe you have to change it. This is how he solved it.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

. I'll have to take the 240 km round-trip to the dealer...
