We just had the car delivered back from servicing at Newport Pagnell and while the car looked extremely shiny and clean, upon closer inspection there were very fine bumps on it that could only be seen on the windscreen under close scrutiny. The paint also felt rough on the roof, boot lid and bonnet but not the sides. The bumps were not visible on the paint. Tried to get rid of them with water, soap and scrubbing, wax, detailer, and insect remover to no avail. Does anyone know what this is, how to get rid of it and/or if it's a bad thing?confused

Thanks,
Xavier

Sounds like tree sap... Hot water and car shampoo should move it but maybe worth getting on the the garage and getting them to deal with it. Not really acceptable they allowed it to happen in the fist place. Failing all else a call the Paddy the miracle detailer should sort it. Good luck

Thanks,
Did try that as my first though was that it is tree sap, but having used lots if hot water and lots of soap decided it wasn't. Will probably try calling the dealer as you said if no one on here comes up with anything.

That's what I was thinking. Did your car go in for any paint?

Did the car get parked anywhere near a railway line or station?

No no paint at all and I don't think it was parked near a railway at any time.

Get yourself some Clay - you can get a meguairs kit from halfords, you rub it across the surface of the paint, you'd be amazed at what it'll get off. overspray, fallout (iron) etc.
It's well worth a try, and it's a good practice to get into anyway.

Yup, clay bar. Use it properly and the results can be astounding.

A few words of caution
Don't apply any pressure
Make sure it is well lubricated (oh er wink )
Regularly fold in the bit you have just used
Don't do it too often (I do it once a year)
Wash any bits of clay or lubricant off after
Make sure you put some sort of wax or sealant on afterwards

Other than that it may need machine polishing if the clay bar doesn't shift it

Further information available from askjockman.com or failing that Paddy hehe

I'm surprised you haven't fashioned it in to a nice piece of wedge wood or a clay pipe to go with the slippers wink
