Ok, so successful weekend (with aircon, thank The Lord) but enroute home attempted to wash windscreen and got nothing but a pathetic contact lense case amount of water. Naturally assumed that I was empty, stopped to check but the reservoir was full. On operation, I can hear the pump (good news). AM have advised that the filter at the base of the reservoir may need cleaning.

At work this week so will have a look at the weekend, but anyone done this or experienced anything similar? You can imagine the state of my windscreen after the hoon!

Sorry to introduce another dull training bra subject, although I was very pleased with my little fella over the weekend, held his own......and I'm not talking about night time antics with Jeff. smile

I had this.
Bridgemill sorted it for me for a out £70.
Off with off side front wheel, inner arch out. Wash bottle removed, cleaned and refitted.
Perfect.

What he said ^^
On a more serious note, just looked a while ago on mine and it is a wheel + arch liner off job to get to it, so unless you can do that then trip to the garage is likely.

Thanks fellas, what a pain in the arse. I might give it a go myself as I'm certainly not having it collected and returned to Cambridge again. Is the wheel arch liner tricky to do? Can't be that hard, can it?

Shouldn't be, just a dozen or so Philips and torx screws to remove and should be ok. Not sure, but seem to remember Lunablack doing a video of his sill replacement and he took the liners off for that, maybe try looking that one up.

If I remember correctly, to get the front liners out completely, you also have to remove the aluminium undertray at the frontfrown

Exactly as stated. You might need to undo some front splitter screws too.

I'm sure there's some home remedy involving kettle descaler and vinegar or some such yes

It may be a bad idea, but I bet it beats an inebriated Mr Toms with his socket set!

As Steve said... white vinegar with a mix of meths a good cocktail for clearing the filter and the lines,it sounds as though it is blockage.Although make sure all the connections are secure.

If it is scale then citric acid is the thing, some cola of some type would do it but I'd guess the washer bottle would need to be emptied first otherwise it'd be too diluted. Cleaning the filter/strainer should be the first thing to do though I'd guess, does anyone know if the pump can get air locked?
Failing that then Nick will be multitasking again with beer and spanners by the sound of it smile

Christ, never did I think that a simple system could be so complicated! So, for day to day use, utilise distilled water. If attempting to unblock the filter, then presumably I'll need to syphon the existing fluid then put my exotic chemical mixture of white vinegar/meths/hot water to flush it through. How exciting!
