A couple of weeks ago I decided to put a stripe on my V8V. It was my first vinyl wrap project and the allure of the using the cool new blue brushed aluminum vinyl was hard to resist; it seemed like a good match for my interior mods. But after I was done, I decided that it was a bit too bold for my taste.

So off came the blue stripe. This time I used a matte gray aluminum metallic. My intent was to create a sort of ghost stripe look. The color is a good complement for Tungsten Silver. I just finished the project a few minutes ago and as you can see from some of the pictures, the stripe practically disappears from certain angles.

Comments positive or negative are welcome.

I will take better pictures at a later time and post them in this thread. It's almost morning here and I have to go to work soon but I never went to bed last night. Insomnia can be fun if you make the most of it.

Sorry to rain on your parade but I don't think it's possible to judge this kind of thing from pictures, let alone uploaded jpegs.

Hi KF, interesting finish - I like how it's quite subtle. Stripes are not really my kind of thing, but I think the way you've done this one suits the understated character of an Aston.

I like it a lot, but its missing something. Its still a stripe, in that it has a certain 'cheap' about it.
Here's an evolution of your design. Get a piece of clear vinyl printed with your matt stripe but with a fade to clear on the front and side edges?

Like below, but keep the same colour but in matt. I like that.
Just my opinion.

Very interesting look yes

I like the 'has it or hasn't it' effect biglaugh

Sort of reminds me of the centenary paint finish, subtle.

I like it Karl, as you say quite subtle. My 2p - I think it might have looked a little better with the stripe being a shade darker than the paint rather than lighter. Don't like the fade on the DBS, reminds me of something from Halfords in the 1980's.

Actually, what I have noticed is that from some angles it looks lighter than the paint and from others it looks darker.

I quite like that. Subtle and easily removeable should you get bored of it. Nice mod.

Also like your wall logo. biggrin

Well it's a good thing I wasn't one letter earlier in the alphabet; because then I would've out-P'ed myself! LOL. smile
