Paintshield the whole front end, mirrors & side skirts at the best part of £2K or just pay to get stone chips taken out every so often?!

Any ideas?!

I guess it depends how long you intend to keep the car.
If not changing often, I would say paintshield.

Dad had it put on his DB9 and now his Virage.
I also had applied to my Audi and my brother to his BMW.
Money well spent in our opinions.

While cleaning, you will often see marks where stone have hit and be happy to know your paintwork has been saved smile
Just make sure the paint is perfect underneath, other wise you'll any imperfections/existing chips under the clear film, and that would prove somewhat annoying, I'm sure.

For 2k you can respray your front end twice, plus the marks that stones leave on the paintshield dont polish off!

Just dont drive close to the rear of other cars and save yourself 2k, thats my opinion anyway.

I have armourfend on front 3rd of my car plus the usual rear arch bit too - @ £650 and a LOT cheaper than a proper paint refresh. Will keep it looking fresh for years and even if you do move on to another car, will make it more presentable for people viewing it.

If you attend one of the organised drives (such as the JLC trip or the Wales trip) we do take in some superb driving roads but, being less well used and fairly rural, they do tend to have small stones that can fly up and hit your bodywork, especially during the more 'spirited' parts.

If you are driving the car to the shops, supermarket and days out/holidays then I wouldn't bother with shield as you will pick up very few chips and you can afford a re-spray or two when needed.

Paintshield was my choice though as it heals itself, so will look nicer for longer.

How about just using the new 3M paint defender spray when you go on the long road trips and then peel it off the rest of the time?

always paintshield on a new car/new paint

it really needs to be perfect before application though and done properly you can barely see it

otherwise in 10-20k miles it will be peppered with chips

It really is great stuff. I wouldn't recommend any other film. The wire brush test is awesome.

I'll be there tomorrow prepping ed's vantage before the film goes on.

I didn't know you were taking me to the pictures Paddy you old romantic you..........rolleyes

Aren't you meant to be ringing me for a time in the morning them.............phone

And my answer to the original poster question is,

I did my last 2 Aston's and although I did have to have some panels redone due to bubbles and shrinkage the product did as it says on the label.

Now when I had the Porsche I thought sod it and didn't bothernono much to my own folly, one Highland Hoon and it was shot blasted to hell.

Well that's one way to learnteachernot to cut corners on your P&J so my opinion is to bite the bullet and get it covered.

Be safe rather than sorry.

I also practice safe sex so you'll be safe if not sorry Paddy.

My point being I doubt £600 is going to get you a lot in the way of coverage, let alone a premium product.

Its well and good to post "in the region of £600" but it isn't overly expansive regarding factors such as type of coverage,
product applied and to what type of vehicle.

Yes the exchange rate is a bummer again sadly but lets look at it in a positive way.....it puts me off going to Vegas again in a hurryloser

See you shortly.

sorry I have it, I wouldn't bother. Just had a big stone chip on the front, had to get them to take the film off to repair which took half the paint off. Never again

Point taken but rocking up in a new Aston Martin and then start whinging about the price just isn't British, you can't go to the
Ritz for Afternoon Tea then kick off about the price of their Scones......surelyhehe

You can barter to your heart's content but Paintshield are I believe the only authorised fitters of Xpel Ultimate and it isn't cheap. I doubt you would get the standard kit (front end, splitter, front of bonnet, mirrors, rear arches and sills) for less tthan £1,000.
