Aston Martin at CarFest South 23-25 August 2013

Decided to start a new topic for this CarFest South event at Laverstoke Farm, nr Basingstoke. 23-25 August

As you may know, Aston Martin have been invited to provide 100 cars for each of the days as part of the AM100 celebration. I am with the AMOC coordinating the display

I've had notice of some cancellations, so it may appear that I will have some spaces on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

If you are interested having your Aston Martin in the display for any or all of the days with two adult tickets please send me an email (do not phone please) to [e-mail] (note two r's in garry...)and I will get straight back to you.

Please note that this is to display Aston Martins only and not other cars, and NOT any hillclimb presentation - that has been taken care of.

All those on my list have received by email, final instructions, car pass, entry list. Check your junk mail folder just in case.

Finally some news on a Sunday Parade!
After a rather tortuous process, it has been agreed that all the cars in the Aston Martin display area on Sunday will be invited to participate in a parade lap through Overton Village. This has been approved, I understand by the parish council and the good people of Overton.

Starting at 11am Sunday, all cars will be escorted from the display area to the Hillclimb startline. Then under Police escort, you will drive down the Hillclimb, to another exit at the end. From there, under escort you will be guided through Overton Village and then back to Gate B, where you will park in exactly the same slot you left in.

This will be amazing, with full press coverage, and many thousands of CarFest and Overton people cheering you on. Just make sure the car is clean, will not catch fire or run out of petrol.

This is optional. You do not have to take part. No passes, no forms, no helmets. Just be by your car before 11am.

And no - there are no spaces left for Sunday.

I'm afraid that if you haven't already booked a space with Garry, we won't be able to fit you in. Certainly our display area for Saturday and Sunday are fully booked. If you already have your own tickets etc, I can see if we can get you in to the area for the Friday, but as all the information went to the organisers yesterday, this may not be possible. Email me on [e-mail] if you want me to see what I can do for Friday.

I'm going on Saturday but won't be there for the parade on Sunday. If anyone can take photos of the parade and send them to me, I will be putting an article in to Vantage, the relatively new Aston Martin magazine and it would be good to include this.

What a fantastic weekend, too many good things to mention but highlights include the surprise gig from Seasick Steve on the Saturday night and the amazing 100 car convoy up the hill climb and then through the local villages.


Huge thanks to Garry, the lovely Jane and everyone else involved


Oops - final highlight was, of course, finally meeting Yeti in person - top bloke, but that's a Deb'n boy for you

I was talking with the guys selling the in-car camera's, they said they were hoping to fit a few to the cars on the drive through the village.

Anybody know if that happened, would be interested in seeing how the footage came out.

They mentioned that it would be subject to having units left, I guess they were waiting to see if they sold them, a missed opportunity IMO.
