If you had the choice of either?

Discuss!

As this is the situation I am in......

Or save the money on both and get the right speced 4.3 for under £40k......

Looking at your garage Mark, I don't think you would be happy with either.

You are a V12 Vantage man.

4.7.

The 4.3 is like an asthmatic runner
The N400 is like an asthmatic runner on a ventolin inhaler - better but not perfect
4.7 is a club athlete
V12V is an Olympic athlete on steroids.

Hmmmmm

I did feel the 4.3 was a little bit slow in comparison to my other cars.

But I love the look and the luxury.

I unfortunately don't have the pennies to get a V12, and if I had £70k+ I would most likely go and buy a 997GT3 Gen2 or a Ferrari F430...

The GT3 is SOLD now so have the ££ to spend on a new toy.

Been with Porsche for a while now so fancied a change to some British Heritage, but as you have said the 4.3 is a little slow.

I do like the N400 for limited edition special feeling tho'

The 4.7 was 100% quicker and more composed and has got more refinement......

Get the 4.7 SP.

And after you've had it for a bit and feel that you want even more out of it, take it down to Bamford Rose for some fettling. With some (pretty serious) tinkering, they can get the performance close to that of a V12V, but with only 8 cylinders.

Considering the low numbers of Astons around, they are ALL special. A stitched 'ring outline on the armrest wont change the world wink

I went through this a few years back and bought a very early 4.7 SP no brainer
Only benefit to the N400 is they do hold value slightly better
But I preferred the 4.7 SP performance to lower depreciation
I've now got an S roadster with a few choice options

4.7 every time, especially if budget isn't an issue. I took my 4.3 budget and saved longer to get to the 4.7 smile

I got the N400 in that circumstance. Dash is nicer (matter of opinion) and 4.7 SPs weren't common, and out of my budget if I'd been able to find one.

The 4.7 is a bit faster, but it's not night and day.

I got the BR catalytic converter on my N400, and that makes significantly more difference than the 4.7 engine, but of course you can have both.
