Well I had to get a new tyre and the garage asked me if I wanted the TPMS serviced confused I was told that they had to offer this as effectively there are a number of o-rings that don't get replaced normally, whereas they would normally replace the whole valve on a standard wheel. For £20.00, I said why not....... However I then read a flyer in there that directed me to this http://www.tyresafe.org/tyre-safety/tpms/tpms-and-... that states that the TPMS system will form part of the MOT.

That means if you have sensors and they are faulty, you will fail the MOT in future..... Also read http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/car-servicing...

You learn something everyday yes

Interesting. At least you have until the 2015 MOT before you get the fail - just advisories until then smile

"Tyre pressure monitoring systems fitted to vehicles first registered after 1 January 2012 must be working correctly and not indicating a malfunction"

Your banger will be exempt - its too old!!!

BUT..... dont hold your breath - the goal posts quite often move with VOSA - last update of regs came in some while ago - was suspended within a few days and then took nearly 18 months to bring out an amended set of regs rolleyes
