Scotland Road trip - May 2014
Discussion
Sometimes PH really does get up my nose.. Having threads deleted for Advertising. when I'm not f*king advertising ANYTHING !!!!
Surely to be an advert you have to be a company pushing a service or product???
Anyway rant over!!! here's my NON advert again albeit in a different section of PH now.
Anyone interested in a 3-day road trip up into Scotland?
Second weekend in May 2014.
1st day of full driving takes us to Inverness.
2nd day is a free day where folks can do their own thing or attend/enter a local car show.
3rd day of full driving brings us back home.
Each route up and down is unique with no two roads traveled twice.
I've sorted hotel accommodation for the 2 nights and the total price for each driver and car is well under £100, less fuel / food etc.
Anyone interested, just let me know.
I'd ask if anyone wanted to pop to the pub but that might be considered advertising as well. :-/

Preston, Lancs. at approx 3am - 4am to miss all the horrible UK traffic and Glasgow rush hour.
Sorry I was intentionally being brief to start with as too many details might ring the advert police alarm bell :-)
The start point is a Hotel, so a possible overnight prior could be an option for anyone further south.
This would not be included in the costing I have worked out though.

Cool!
The trip is not exclusively Aston Martin. There is a bunch of us that will be going, taking all sorts of interesting stuff.
As for waiting, Inverness has plenty of hotel options so if you miss the hotel booking slots I am aiming for then you have other options you can go for but will have to make these arrangements yourself.
I have a full route plotted out and have even walked the roads I was unsure of using the wee yellow man in Google Maps :-)

I live near Glasgow so no problems for me catching you lot up along the way. I work overseas a lot and cannot guarantee I would be home that far in advance. Think I've covered most of the north of Scotland on 2 wheels so its time I got the Aston out and about on some of these roads!!
Nice!! you're lucky to live that close to some of the UK's best roads.
The route has us going through Glasgow (or around it) on Friday 9th May at approx 7:30am
You're more than welcome to tag on, should you be available at the time.
I've just re-plotted the entire route form Preston to Inverness and it amounts to 9hrs driving time.
Of course there will be rest stops en-route and photo/video opportunities etc..
So arrival in Inverness should be somewhere around 3pm-4pm.

Thanks Yeti,, how do I find the mod though?
Be nice if there were links to the active mods for each section.
Unless I am missing this info somehow.
I have the route for Day 1 saved in an online map form if anyone is interested, I won't post the map publicly for obvious reasons ;-)
But it gives an idea on the slightly convoluted route.

A note to a mod explaining will soon get your post re-instated, I have had them deleted before and then put back on after a chat.

We are doing this area in September

I will be up for this trip. No car as yet but I suspect Santa might bring me something !!!!!! Starting point for me would be Lancaster
Christ what size chimney have you got then,I'd like to see Santa's face
when the Elves read
him your little Xmas letter.Remember be good and Santa will see what he can do.

Lancaster won't be a problem.
After leaving Preston we'll use the M6 briefly until the Kendal turn off.
So we can call in at Forton or Burton services.
Plenty of time until May to arrange all the small details.
At some point within the next month I'll be gathering up all the contact details for those interested so we can get some firm attendees down.
I also organise a monthly supercar meet in Preston (north), which might be a nice run out for you once a month.
If you're free tomorrow Bentley01, you're welcome to pop along and have a look.
We meet no matter what the weather, though the worst it gets the fewer the cars attend but it's never been a no show even with snow and Ice on the ground.
If you need details of the meet tomorrow, check the North West Section of PH.

Venue opens at 9am for hot food and breakfasts :-)
Although the post was started in 2011, it's now into its 3rd year and it's never missed a month.
