A warning to serial polishers.....

Well, over the Bank Holiday, I got into polishing mode and decided to polish-up the aluminium "U" channels on the sides of the Volante that cover the roof mechanism, seen here.....

and discovered something quite unusual. Although the brackets are aluminium, lacquered and pretty dull, they are, in fact, chromed aluminium. How they then managed to get them so dull I am unsure, but if you polish the life out of them to get through to the shine, you can go right through the chrome, into the copper plate they had to apply to chrome the alloy, albeit badly.

So, for now, it can stay as it is until the winter when I have more time to rechrome them properly, or strip the chrome and copper off them and polish them as I thought I was originally.
