As some of you already know, I'm swissvax authorised, but its up for renewal. Now my question is, do you think it's worth me renewing or not? I don't really get any work from it and I initially signed up to add some credibility to my business at the beginning. Now, I still think they make the best waxes, but what I'm really wondering is would it bother you guys or possible future clients that I'm not an authorised detailer or should I renew it?

I know it's not an Aston Martin topic exactly, but since I detail most of the cars on here, I thought I'd ask you guys.

Francis.

I think the results of your work speak for themselves. Now you have become established do you need to pay money to swissvax just to say you are an authorised detailer - if you don't feel it brings in new business then why bother. Spend the money on more of their wax! I think sometimes these 'soft' franchises are only really profitable to the people selling them. Save your money mate.... You are well respected on here and I'm sure anyone would give you a good reference....... For the right price of course biggrin

My detailer is not Gtechnic approved but that doesn't mean he can't buy it and apply it for me.
Because you are/not Swiss Wax approved I couldn't care less I would use you because of recommendation.

Have only ever used detailers following recommendations in the past, word of mouth is worth a site more than "approved by" in my book.

Save your money and buy your own cake for when none is provided by your customers. smile

Cheers Tony. That's what I was thinking. I guess it was good to have a name behind me in the beginning, but like you say, it's all down to recommendation now and word of mouth now.

I only really use their waxes, as everything else doesn't make much sense to use commercially, though they are great products, but very expensive. Even with my discount.

Hmmm

It's £360. I guess it's only really worth just in case someone is searching for a detailer on the the swissvax website in my region and contacts me. It would mean changing my website, but that needs updating anyway, plus as you say, I could put it towards some cake! Lol. Not that I need anymore bad food.....

Wouldn't matter to me Francis as I prefer recommendations. That said, how many jobs did you get through the Swissvax website? If more than one a year then it is worth £350. If one or less then I wouldn't bother.

Just for information, I was parked in a pub car park today and someone asked me if I had had the car professionally cleaned and polished. Of course it was my R222 that made the difference but I gave him your details anyway smile

Bottom line is it is your decision but personally I wouldn't bother because you have some very happy advocates such as us here.

Makes no odds to me - the guy I use locally, will apply whatever I choose and offers a range of different products/brands

If you're not getting any business from it then spend the £350 on the website upgrade. The recommendations you get on here should keep you busy for a while!!

Do you need the work Francis, how many customers would take your name from the swissvax detailers list? These questions together provide your answer. Any road up, please don't go too far away around the middle of the month, Vesuvius will need your services. smile

everyone knows what an "authorised" agent is- someone who pays a fee. Nothing to do with quality- not like you have to pass a test or similar..

I also don't think there's much difference in most good company's products- there are very few patents. In Australia, McGuire's has a FANTASTIC reputation as being THE premium product. In the UK Autoglym get some rating.

What's better SwissVax or Zymol?

its not the product at the end of the day- its' the prep.... same as painting a car- does it have to be dulux for the best finish.... obviously no..

results in bodywork come from the work (preparation) of the surface, and knowledge of the person using the product, not of hte product, but of the surface preparation required...
