I've been looking at various options as most of you know to get some extra bhp out the 4.3, and decided to pop and have a look at Generation AMR / David Appleby Engineering and what options were available as they were my closest Aston Martin Specialist.

Well I thought I would post this up as was amazed by the increase from a Manifold / Cat / Centre / Back Box replacement.

They have been in development with RS Fabrication and have just released a new design of Equal Length Manifold for both Right & Left Hand drive cars along with a new 200cell cat and full exhaust system package with some very good results.

Here are a few pictures of the bits and pieces, along with a dyno print and some other pictures of there facilities.

Base reading for the car are:
378.0 PS and 375.0 Nm of torque

With all the manifolds / cats / centre / back box the car hit
439.9PS with 482Nm of Torque!

Gain of 61.9 PS [61.1 BHP] and pushed the torque up by 107 Nm [79 lbft]

The new GT4 car they have done is something spectacular, I wish I had the money to run something like that.

The workmanship looks top notch.

Loving the tarmac arches Mk2 in the background!

Any costs? Seems a huge increase from an exhaust system?

Ten thousand one hundred and thirteen of your pounds I believe laugh

You can get the kit from BR (the ones who designed a set 'just like it' a few years ago) and their magnetorheological dampers for that dosh.

Jibberingloon, are you intending to buy or have bought this kit? Or you just >couldn't< wait to tell all your friends here all about it? It's certainly a piece of well-formatted advertising, almost as if they'd done it themselves... certainly better than whoever 'Blore' happened to be posting semi-libellous comments on the BR thread anyway yes

I do hope that the 60bhp can be verfied on a customers car on an independent dyno..? Or just the Applewagon and the RS Fabs test car (RS being the people who used to build the BR manifolds) so far?

That seems a very low quoted original torque..

[maybe to help make a bigger gain?]

Wooooooo Theeerreeee......

Hold your horses Mr Ice Cold Freezin' Yeti Man..

I have been looking at all the option that are available to me to increase the power of my Vantage, and came across this on my internet and worldly travels to places. I have put several posts up about what I am looking for and requesting peoples opinions about who to use and what is available, and have not made any choice on what I want to do as yet.

I've only just got into the Aston brand from being a Porsche nut for the last 6+ years so want to get as much info as possible. I've been reading and researching stuff over the last 6 months prior to buying my car 4 weeks ago so what's wrong with posting up information?

It seems that the figures that they are getting surpasses the other manifold exhaust combo's that are out there from the likes of Velocity / Bamford / Quicksilver etc.

So I thought I would put the information up for everyone to see.

Simple!

Ive spoken at length with both Mike @ Bamford and also David and James @ Generation AMR / Appleby engineering, and taken on board all they have had to say.

I have no allegiance to either.

Unfortunately it seems that some people have very fixed opinions about what is best and that there is only one way of doing things.....

A Wiseman once said.....

"In life you realise that sometimes people who shout the loudest are not always the people to listen to, as all they seem to do is want what they want and think what they have is best....... There are always other things out there that sometimes can be better, if not just different"

Agreed the initial Torque does look a little low suppose its very car dependant

They don't remap the ECU I was told that they just run a diagnostic and check all the parameters to ensure everything is working correct.

It does seem really good as most others are quoting lower gains, hence I thought it was worth a post.
I suppose it does depend on the car too. If its a high miler it could create lower gains or even I suppose a low miler might do the same. Its pot luck on the base figures for each car.

Hmm have I opened a can of worms or something similar?

Seems like it frown

I find starting it, going to the end, and then starting again a much more enjoyable process if a little lengthy, and i'm a bit red the following day....... but its all good smile

Whats wrong with knowing the options?

Yeti your comment does tickle me considering at times this forum reads like a bit of an 'infomercial' for the BR boys, before you shoot me down, once again let me cement i am not knocking their work, I am in no doubt it is top notch, I am just saying it as i see it.

Knowledge of the options available is always a good thing.

Over £10k for an exhaust and manifold change? Blimey that is serious money.

Wonder what page of the Karma Sutra to turn to tonight for inspiration? Hmmmmmm

Anyway just checked and the prices are not too bad...

http://www.davidapplebyengineering.com/exhaust.htm...

If you want to keep the standard exhaust and the gains still look good

Manifold & Cat is just £6,180+Vat

But the full on package is a big chunk of cash...... But if it gives the gains I suppose its good for the right customer who wants the most they can get and have a bigger pocket.

The choice for me tho' is very price dependent.

I wonder if just the cats might make the mid range a little sweeter....

Sorry, Mark....don't want to deal with a garage that does vat.

Vatman can go and shaft himself.

Which - if you check out position 16 - is technically possible without any feline involvement yes
