Radio reception.
Discussion
Not sure if it's all the cars with the Linn radio............sorry, Tuner..........but the sound quality is good enough on CD but radio (FM) reception is apalling.
Is is because it is a Volante? I got significantly better reception on a Pioneer CD/Tuner over 25 years ago, and still get better FM reception on a 90 quid unbranded CD/Tuner from the market than I do from this "Premium" Linn system. Its as if there is a coathanger for an aeriel, although that was better on my brothers Capri than I have.
Is this normal, is there a fix, or is there something wrong with the car, apart from a crap Sat Nav and crap radio?

My 2006 V8V had really bad signal strength and thus poor radio quality.
I had the external antenna removed (mainly for aesthetics) and a high powered internal antenna fitted, which dramatically improved radio reception on all frequencies and allows for much better sound quality from all stations!
and no more of that pushing the stored radio station button and Pi seeking...... nonsense! straight in every time!
PLEEEEASE tell me which antenna you fitted.... as DB9 volante owner, (LINN premium system) the reception is appalling... reminds of my 1974 ford when someone broke the metal arial off- and when i stuck a coat hanger in the hole, it sounded better than the aston tuner.... I found a solution to this...
if you look in the driver's side footwell, you'll find 2-3 pedals (depending on your model); if you press the rightmost pedal as hard as you can for as long as you can, your worries about radio reception will evaporate.
I'm not helping much, am I?

I like this My Dad's 2005 DB9 Volante had awful reception, just one of those things.
Even his newer Virage Volante isn't that much better.
It's good read there is a fix, but I must agree about the "loud pedal" option
Surely the roof should be down whenever a Volante/Roadster is driven, so it's much too buffeting to listen to Terry Wogan

Awesome guys, thanks.
At least I know its not just my car then. I wonder if Linn are aware of their Audio reputation heading down the toilet with this? If I was them, I would insist AM sort it out because if I did not already know the great reputation of Linn products through my AV hobby, it would certainly put me off considering Linn for my home AV system.
Now I can work a fix rather than trying to fault-find a fault that does not exist.
Now, seeing as its STILL raining, I am going to finish off some dipsticks!

Hopefully I can shed some light on your problem. I've had the same issue with a 2013 Vantage S in that the radio signal was so poor there was pretty no much point in using it. After a few trips to my local Aston dealer and not accepting there wasn't an issue I am pleased to say they have fixed the problem. It came down to the tracker in the vehicle causing interference. As soon as it was disconnected from the vehicle it solved the problem. They are now upgrading it to the new Cobra tracker which will hopefully not cause the same problem.

Would you say more about this? My dealer has suggested that it is a possible way to deal with the poor reception I get on Radio 4 in my 2012 V12V. Did they carry out the change for free? Did it work? Do you notice any difference in the way the tracker works? (I don't notice I have a tracker, which I like, when my son had an Aston he had to carry a fob or his phone, and he got calls if he ever forgot or if his phone ran out of charge.Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
