Morning guys,

I want to take the plunge and Order the new V12VS as I am ready to 'move up' from my V8V.

I understand a 10k deposit is in order which is fine but I was hoping to be able to get some kind of discount on the list as frankly I have reading all sorts of comments regarding just how much I could lose in depreciation on this one.

can anyone suggest if any dealers are doing deals on this car and if so what are we looking at?
My local dealer was being very cagey and giving it the speech about specialist models holding their values etc.

Waiting on the demo to come up for sale is one way but to be honest they will probably spec it in silver or grey with black leather and a car such as this needs a bright bold colour, which is what I will be going for.

Cheers

John

Morning John,
Can't help with specifics on the s but I have had an invite from my local dealer about a special VIP event, the upshot being that they were offering a'compelling preferential price' on new cars. It seems to me that they are willing to incentivise, but equally won't do it too quickly. Never having bought new, I simply wouldn't have a clue! Hope you manage to get some sense out of them!

It is early days in the V12VS model run so discounts will be far lower than they will be in say 12mths time, but if you shop around I am sure you will get something off despite a show of initial resistance.

Depreciation will be savage if you pay full list price now that is for sure, but if you are willing to wait a year and haggle hard then the exact opposite could be true. I suspect long term the V12VS will hold it value similar to the V12V, perhaps a little worse, but equally it could be better - who knows! confused

I do agree that the V12VS needs a bright bold colour! yes

Depreciation is a savage regardless. As for the V12 V holding its value yikes
We seem to be on a different planet, having just sold mine.

Unless money is no object, my advice would to be to wait and pick up a second hand example jan/feb 2015.

I bought my current V12V in Feb 2012, it had been in the dealership since the previous Oct. (its an Oct 2010 car).
This car would have been circa £145k list, I picked it up for more than 40% off the list price... Given the discounts that were available I doubt the original purchaser paid list, however he would have been royally shafted on trade in.... Be patient and save yourself a chunk of money.... If you're desperate for a V12V buy a manual for now, you won't be dissapointed.
I'm still loving mine biggrin

Robbo's sounds like it could be a good one biggrinbiggrin

Not on my last V12V that I sold last year it wasn't - in fact it was the cheapest car per month I have owned in the last 8 years. It lost less than a quarter of what my 997.2 C2S cost me per month, so its all relative!

Buy well and sell well and you will do OK. Buying a very early V12VS is unlikely to fall into the buying well category however...

Not buying new is the key to minimising depreciation, buy a 3 year old car as that's where the drop usually starts to flatten off abit.

Sage advice, but I am not sure there are many 3yr old V12VS's at the moment! tongue out

Believe me I bought well. Last year was last year. The owner who purchased from new lost £50k in 11 months and 4000 miles. £11.00 per mile on a second hand car is staggering IMO.

I thought loosing 18k on two M3's in two years was a bitter pill to swallow. Sounds like in the grand scheme of things it was not too bad

Robbo you should have put a private add on. Private V12 seem to be worth much more! See my other posts on this.
At least there is you on here that knows what the real price of these are.

I would dare say chances are very good that there will be many demos in the introductory pearl yellow color.

Getting 23% discount on a new one softens the depreciation blow a bit smile

Are you referring specifically to a V12VS here?

Of course not! I was responding to the replies about buying a used car to minimise the pain of depreciation. If you can swing 23% off a V12VS then I'm in line for thatsmile

Wait a little while. Discounts can be massive on brand new. A friend bought a new DBS (carbon edition?) last year and paid £60k under list.
