Must have been a high bollard!!
There is a maximum height for speedhumps and probably a generally accepted level of clearance which most mass market cars will generally be fine with. If the obstacle is above this height and there is no signage would I say there was any chance of a claim?

Thanks for all the comments and links to parts.
No chance for a claim I don't think. We hired a big country home for my Mum's 60th.
I spotted the metal step on the way in,(it's the bit in the middle that gates close against) but it didn't look high enough to cause any damage, slightly uphill on the way in, went over it fine.
On the way out, I was careful to approach it slowly but it must have been due to the slight down hill angle and the car being in gravel that it just caught.
A hard lesson learned
I will have it mended a.s.a.p., already spoken to dealer about fitting a new one, but I may get that new one from the above link.
Will see if I can sell my broken one to someone to refurb and resell it on.
On the upside, the house we stayed at was great and produced some lovely pics of the car outside, before the incident.

Sorry to hear about this. I'm doing a lot of sailing so I'm bit of an expert regarding smashing up carbon bits. As it is not a structural part you can obviously cut it out and patch it up but you will not be able to match the weave underneath the clear coat so it will not come out very nicely. Do not run your fingers across the damaged section. You risk getting some very small carbon bits into your skin and it will not come out. I think the only way is a completely new part.
