A couple of weeks ago, a great friend of mine took out my DB9 for a drive as he had always wanted one. He has a 15 year old daughter who is also into cars. He took her for a drive and I left.

Today, I went to see him at his garage, and he had a newish 911 there. He is using it for a friend who just leaves it in the garage and he wanted to give it some use.
He took his daughter out for a ride to feed her horse and when he went home, her mum asked if she was thrilled at the ride in the Porsche.

"Yes, its quite nice" she said, "nothing like as good as that Aston though".

My mate nearly fell over. He agreed but was shocked that the Porsche name had not had any effect on the girl, she even said "Aston" and not Aston Martin as you would expect.

He is now worrying as she starts driving in a couple of years! he fears the 1.2 Corsa just won't cut the mustard.

A Porsche will impress you but it won't 'move' you the way an Aston will smile

Annoying, isn't it.

Most of us do it at some point, but on reflection it isn't good. The last thing we need is some marketing 'guru' to rebrand the marque by common use.
