While I was having my meeting yesterday the engineer pointed out that when he was looking at the settings on Pearl's Satnav , the speed section was displaying my highest recorded speed as 157mph. The problem is that the police are aware of this function on Garmin systems and will check if they feel the need. Naturally the figure can be deleted until the next time. So should any of you go for a play remember to push Delete!

I just looked through every menu item on the Garmin and cannot see anywhere where it states the maximum speed reached. I don't have a speed section on mine (other than mph or kph), and it is a 2013 model. Do you know how they got to it or is it a hidden menu item?

You obviously haven't gone fast enough for the system to bother recording it smile

You should try using 6th gear as well - it can go much faster than that biggrin

Sadly there is not a racetrack I know in the UK that has a long enough straight for a sub 500BHP AM Vantage to get to that speed hehewavey

Obviously done in Germany then yes

Correct, it cannot be used in court. The same way that the OBC speed reading cannot be used in court. Remember your car is recording speed, throttle movement, seat belt use etc.

IIRC they are not calibrated to a sufficient level (ie Speed Camera level) to be actionable. smile

Since they can't do anything it sounds like a good challenge to see who can get the highest yes

They'd have to prove who was driving and in what car.

I'm sure before long they'll find a way to make it admissible.
