Hey guys,

I'll be looking at a few cars over the weekend but will want to get a PPI done before a purchase. Would it be better to get the PPI done at an official dealer or an indie? The cars are close to the following dealers / indies:

- Chiltern Aston
- Trinity Engineering
- Stratstone Aston Martin Amersham
- Lancaster Aston Martin Reading
- Grange Aston Martin Brentwood

Any advice is appreciated - thanks.

I would say always at an independent; the dealers are really just service centres, the indies know the cars better, and with many of them knowing more than others.

Very restrained Yeti. However, you and I know if he can, he should ask Bamford Rose to check it out if they can fit him in.

I can recommend Grange especially Andy in service, very good.

The problem with Bamford Rose is that it's about 75 miles away from one of the cars. Do you think it's reasonable to ask the seller to drive those sort of distances? Obviously, I'll cover petrol and parking expenses.

I found Chiltern Aston to be very knowledgeable and fully equipped for everything from current to Heritage.

I wouldn't think that many would want to do that as that adds another 150 miles onto it with no guarantee of a sale. What cars are you looking at? If they are dealer cars, they will already have been 140 point checked and then a warranty. Normal things like brakes / tyres / damage / oil leaks should not be difficult for a dealer to check. I am not saying that BR are not better, because they are, I am saying that a dealer car will come with warranty anyway.

Looking at private sales only. I'm not worried about minor things, I'm more concerned about overrevs, engine problems, etc which require getting the car plugged into the computer.
