Have a chuckle at this!

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aston-Martin-kitcar-Jagu...

"This car no longer resembles a Jaguar so has been inspected by the DVLA and re registered as a 'Dakota Vanquish' all legal and above board. Logbook/ tax disc states Dakota Vanquish. So no problems being stopped with registration queries, ie, logbook stating wrong description for vehicle"

WTF!!!

Delusional owner - 2001 Jag with a few aston bits and dodgy body kit bolted on, 109,000 miles = 28k!

I wonder how they avoided a Q registration mark?

One of the long gone GT40 kit car makers was in Poole.
Together with the boat makers in the town, it seems to be a fibreglass haven.

Actually does come up as a Dakota Vanquish if you run a vehicle check, and they do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But ........ nah and the rear end is horrible

Funny. I wonder how he came up with the name - Google shows it's an original choice (this thread is already the top Google result for "Dakota Vanquish", that's pretty quick).

wouldn't insuring that be somewhat difficult? I imagine the conversation going something like this:

"hello, Direct Line, how can i help?"

"I'd like to insure a 2001 dakota vanquish please"

"A 'dakota' vanquish, hmm that's not showing on our system, do you mean an aston martin vanquish?"

"no, no its a dakota vanquish - its really a 2001 jaguar xkr that i put a cheap bodykit on to because i couldn't afford the real thing but i felt really inadequate driving a normal jaguar xkr. My mates just laugh at it, but don't worry all the car thieves will think its an aston martin (in the dark) so please feel free to charge me a higher premium accordingly"

"i'm sorry sir, if its not on our system we cant insure it. You'll need to speak to our sister company that charges higher premiums for sad tossers like you..."

From the advert

"One of only 5 cars ever produced using this body kit before production had to cease because of potential litigation by Aston Martin as it looks too good"

It's also got 110k miles...if you could find a Vantage or similar with that many miles, it'd be that price anyway.
