Assuming it is safe to write something in the forum now........

I thought I would share our experience of our first Aston. We have had our MY.08 (sept 07 plate) DB9 since last November and covered about 5k miles, and still has just under 30k on the clock. During this time we noticed the paint bubbling on the driver mirror supports and by a wheel arch - all tidied up by Harwoods with no fuss or cost to me -in fact, they replaced both mirror supports, they also blacked up the lower front grills where needed. We invested in the clear rear lights which we think go really well with Mercury Silver and certainly do improve the look of the car.

I appear to like kissing curbs so the sports pack alloys have been refurbished by Harwoods and HR Owen at some stage and look new again. Occasionally we have a rattle from the back parcel shelf. We obtained the latest DVD sat nav upgrade and that is better (postcode search) but the sat nav isn't the greatest- frankly I prefer the look of the dash with it down. The tyre pressure/ fault warnings have a mind of their own, but inevitably sort themselves out, and lessen the more the car is driven. Those are the slight niggles we have had.

Otherwise new MOT just sorted, and mechanically the car has been perfect. I am not fussed about upgrading mods and such, and really enjoy the car for what it is, and it even makes rainy days fine! After not wanting to get it dirty in the early days I have embraced the "it's only a car" mentality and therefore get the benefit of being in it on so many more occasions.

We have done the mid Wales PH run, which was jolly, but don't often dive into the threads on here.

Driving the car always feels special, as is the reception from other drivers/general public etc. It is a joy to own, and perversely, to wash..... and I don't do fancy detailing/special cleaning, and it still comes up fine, but it did have a "lifeshine" job done on it as part of our purchase deal.

Currently we have no desire to change it as we love what we have and I think we are getting great value for money ( no, really!) considering what we would have to cough up to change. It looks and sounds lovely and makes us smile - which isn't bad when in reality it is a lump of metal, rubber & leather.

I hope that gives an open impression of new ownership to anyone considering getting a second hand Aston, and just a general interest to current owners, hopefully without insulting anybody wink

I bought mine from Harwoods in Chichester after buying 3 previous Jags from them. The service manager (Martin) is excellent.

If you ever need any 'Bodywork' doing then Apollo straight across from Harwoods are excellent and I have used the 'Wheel Specialists' in Fareham for any wheel refurbs etc.

Surprised no-one has mentioned the forum rules of 'Post a Photograph'.

Hi Speculatore - I suppose I should say Harwoods "managed" the paintwork/wheel job as they outsource that. Harwoods are not local to me, but they do a good job in picking the car up in the truck and sorting it all out, but I suppose I would take small jobs to HR Owen in Cheltenham if needs be.

I forgot to mention that Harwoods also fixed wind noise from the passenger window ( even after a window reset it was noisy) and all this under the warranty and good will. As a result of the minor jobs and the seemingly reliable running I have decided not to take up the option of an extended warranty. Time will tell if that was wise or not. I'll be looking at new tyres in the New Year too...

Thanks Molly x. You will have no doubt noted that I am currently washing the car with the novel, low impact, natural, rain water technique....
