Technical help needed:

1]Sports button not operating exhaust valves.. valves are open all the time with or without sport button operation.... Any Ideas..

Note Valves are not seized and can both be operated manually

2]Over run on fueling.. car pops on start up.. and sometimes on low gear changes is this normal?

3] How smooth is your gear transitions? Car changes ok but seem a bit rough in comparison to a Mercedes etc.. is this normal?

Hi
Not sure if this helps as mine is a 2008 4.3 Vantage Roadster.

Sport button only sharpens the gear change does nothing to the exhaust note I had a separate switch installed to open up
The valves.

Again mine is a sportsshift and has always been nowhere near as smooth as the wife's SLK.

Have you checked if fuse 22 is in place in the boot fuse box?

1) check fuse 22

2) Yup..normal to over fuel and pop and bang on the overrun, especially on cold start cycle (to wake the neighbors at 5am)...part of the character ..like a TVR ..you cant beat the sound of a poorly managed engine wink

3) normal until you change to the later spec of gearbox oil...if it already has that, then its as good as it gets...its a mans car after all, and needs a firm hand

ECP, do you mind me asking if is is your own personal car or is it one you are selling/renting out as part of a business?

If the latter then would it not be best to put the car into an AM specialist and let them sort it out as part of your business?

Re the comparison with the Merc, I am assuming you are talking about a Vantage with Sportshift gearbox, as opposed to a DB9 with a slush box automatic? If so the vantage has an assisted manual change rather than a traditional torque converter gearbox and can not be compared with such a box. There is a knack to changing gear on the Sporstshift which once learned is much smoother, and you have to perform frequent clutch learns with them. Have you done that?

On your point "1", valves are open IIRC when the car is started from cold until up to temp. They close when car is warmed up below 3500rpm, if Fuse22 is present. If your car is newer than my 2007 - you may need to refer to manual as the fuse position has changed since.

Cheers!

3) forgot you are talking about a sport shift...not a manual smile as already mentioned, an automated manual gearbox is not as smooth shifting as a traditional torque convertor slush box..

As I recall, remove rear bumper, behind RH wheel arch.
