Help with DBS TT2

This place is getting very weird. First all the posts being deleted / locked and now we have a thread where we have to guess what it was all about!
I'd tell you why but what with Obama listening to my telephone calls, the CIA monitoring my web use and Aston monitoring this forum, I guess we'd come to a sticky end
Ha, sorry guys probably a little too late last night when I tried to edit but deleted initial post instead and couldn't be a
d to repost it.
In short I was asking for advice on TT2. Driven the car for 6 days now and still getting to grips with it compared to manual in the V8V.
Find at lights and junctions in first I have to keep foot on brake to stop creep which is a bit of a pain if you want to make a swift start as you have to move from brake to throttle. I found it easier dropping the clutch in a manual. I was asking if the creep was normal but expect that it is and I'll have to learn to live with it.
Also, wondered if it was better to put in neutral at lights than wait in first but would still need to hit brake first to select first gear. But is that any kinder on the auto box than sitting in first with foot on the brake? Did ask a daft question about clutch learn as done with SS box but had forgotten that it is of course a torque converter so no clutch.....Doh!
Finally, when slowing down, again is it kinder on the box to let the car change down through gears rather than me doing it manually on the paddles?
Never really thought about these issues with the Disco or RRS that I just put in D and go. Don't want to use the Aston in D mode though.

Its an auto, sit at traffic light with left foot on brake, right foot ready to stamp on the throttle.
Yes, sounds like the way to go. A little counter intuitive to what I'm used to but probably a bit like using the brake as a clutch peddle. Will have to remember not to blip the throttle whilst I'm waiting to launch
I find the system a bit of a faff.
Do not like having to press the buttons as I have a fear that they will not function .
I prefer the stick auto on my Focus where I can feel what I am doing and is more intuitive to me.
First time I took out my car, lovely sunny day ,roof down ,wife and two daughters aboard, stopped at lights put it into neutral then went to drive off ,nothing, spent 5 minutes trying to pull away ,long line of hooting traffic behind me,when I realised I hadn't put my foot on the brake before engaging gear.
What a plonker !

It must have been even more disparaging than that which you posted.
Never mind ,I have broad shoulders and will bear your insults with a manly shrug.

Pretty sure BR Mike commented that it may be kinder just to leave it in gear, but don't hold me to that
Could anyone expand on this? I would have assumed it's always best to put in neutral when it's stationary.

It is never a good idea to shift into neutral at lights. All it does is increase, over time, the 'clunking' that occurs during driveline take up. It is not harmful in any way to the leave the trans in gear. The torque converter is designed to be engaged all the time. But having it clunk into reverse or drive over and over will just increase the take up lash.
I couldn't have put it better myself, Etienne
That clunking noise is a familiar aspect to my memories of the DB9

The trouble with trying to reference you to Mike's comments (and is a similar issue with AdamV12V's request for a reference to Terminator) is that they were included in a general thread about a year ago !!
