Afternoon all...

The clutch in my brother's V8V has just about given up the ghost (it'll drive but slips under any sort of load) so he's been havnig a look for the best place to take it for a new one.

There's a main dealer just around the corner from where he lives (not bought through them) but I've seen Bamford Rose mentioned on here and other forums and passed on their details.
They've quoted him a fair bit less to replace the clutch and flywheel but can't offer the same warranty etc as the main dealer.

I just wondered if anyone has had a clutch or any other work carried out by BR recently and able to recommend them?

Cheers

Rob

Is this a wind up, Rob? hehe

Lots of good recommendations on here for BR - bit confused as I was under the impression that they did indeed warranty their own work confused

Apologies if I've missed a load of obvious info re. BR and any other AM specialists, I haven't spent a great deal of time in this forum, aside from a quick search for any 'common problems' threads before my brother bought the car.

I shall have a browse this afternoon and forward on any info I can find.

And whoever sent the PM (the e-mail doesn't say where it came from); much appreciated, I shall pass it on.

Cheers

Rob

ETA. I'm not 100% sure what the situation is with the BR warranty vs. the main dealer - maybe the dealer can warrant both part and labour (2yrs I think he said) whereas BR can only warrant their work and not the part!?

BR's twin plate clutch has been fitted to several forum members and they say it is significantly better than the original. One of them may be along to help you further. Personally, after reading what they say I'll go for the BR twin plate conversion when it happens to mine.

From the fitters side, it must be brave to provide a warranty for a clutch.
Some drivers can make them last 50,000 miles, whereas others can wear them out after a few racing starts and some uphill reversing.

Tricky to warranty a clutch as its a wear and tear item wink

And as mentioned it does last different amounts of time depending on use.

When I bought mine I budgeted for a standard replacement in the next year or 2 as unsure of the previous drivers left foot ability!

most Indys will do it a lot cheaper than the Dealers DAE quoted me £1000+VAT from memory for the job.

I didn't budget for it when I bought my two and a half year old manual DB9 and the clutch went after a year or so and a couple of thousand miles.

I bought the V12V new and after 11000 miles in 26 months, the clutch is abolutely fine.

If I ever buy a second hand manual performance car again (what is there?), I will budget.

Which must be proof of your mechanical sympathy when changing gear.
I believe in the same, by trying to match engine and propshaft speed. Give it the beans by all means, but only after the clutch pedal is up.

I have just noticed your number of posts Mr. Zod.
Average 185.55 per month. Do you hold the AM Forum record?

Hi Rob,

I can definitely recommend BR's twin plate clutch and lightweight flywheel. The difference is very noticeable. Their clutch will last so much longer plus it reacts so much better. The flywheel allows the engine to spin up so much quicker. I have had the job done twice now on two cars. Ring Mike at BR tell him Robgt sent you!

Yes, so I see.
George posts on average 295 times per month.

Could that frequency have any connection with employment changes? smile (Source Linkedin)
