My car went if for its annual service last week at my local Indy.
They were tasked with the following
Oil , Oil Filter and Sump plug
New Air Filters
Change the O-Rings on the scavenger pump filters
Clean the throttle butterfly valve
New drive belt and new redesigned idler pulley

When I got the car back the difference in the smoothness of the sportshift gearbox is remarkable.

Since owning the car for a year I do regular clutch learns, but at the very best the gearbox could be not very smooth, especially pulling away when the car was started from cold
I have always assumed this was just the way it was. However the difference now is amazing, much smoother at all speeds

Looking at the work done at the service last week I can only assume the change of Air filters and the cleaning of the throttle butterfly has allowed this to happen, since the oil change and drive belt would not effect this surely?
I think to clean the throttle butterfly is a very cheap and easy thing to do.
So sportshift owners this may be something to consider?

I supplied this to the Indy to clean it

Comments anyone?

Did the Indy come up with those suggestions as part of the service or did you have to let them know that those specific items you wanted to be done in addition to what may be covered in a "standard" service?. Just trying to work out if these items are usually done as normal practice when its sportshift or if this was something you thought of and therefore would not normally be done ?

I really was intending to just get the standard service items done (i.e. oil, oil filer, air filters etc) but since they had to remove the ducting into the throttle butterfly to get access for fitting the new drive belt and idler I asked them to clean it.
Cleaning the throttle butterfly is mentioned in the service schedule within the handbook.
