I have never owned an Aston.

Like many, however, I love a British brand and I find the cars very attractive.

I confess to getting a little over familiar with the DB9 and Vantage over the years.

And then the new Vanquish came along. I don't know what the Aston stalwarts make of it, but personally I find it to be a beautiful machine. It looks like the Astons of the last 10 years or so, but is now more modern, more evolved and IMO a deeply, deeply good looking motorcar. The details are sublime.

And now I see that the dealer network is beginning to get populated with a reasonable number of low mileage, ex'demo, pre reg cars. Prices are down to the £150's now and no doubt set to move down more over the winter.

Anyone tempted to make the move yet?

Not many people seem to talk about them much here. I guess the car is still new and very pricey. Any owners of the new Vanquish care to share your experience and thoughts over the car?

Yum…just look at it !

Sublime? Hardly.

Extroverted would be a far more appropriate description of its mish-mash of details.

That one pictured is a centenary limited edition so they won't be going cheap at the moment.

Couldn't buy one myself.

Pretty but the old tech kills it for me.

Shows just how hard it is for the Aston designers these days (although a nice problem to have!). So they've come out with a new model that's different enough to the others for some to say it's terrible, yet others still say it looks like every other Aston Martin...

But a friend of mine who previously had no interest in Astons said he likes the look of this one. So maybe if it can bring a few new people over to the brand then not such a bad thing...

And I happen to think the Vanquish Volante is stunning btw. The photos on the official Twitter and Facebook pages are making me consider buying lottery tickets!

I cannot see why anyone would have a used Vanquish over a brand new, far better looking DB9.2 + change.

I find the DB9 tired and dated looking. And the interior switchgear feels like a 10 yr old music centre from Argos.

The DB9.2 is just a mild rehash.

The Vanquish looks like a proper evolution. I could see myself owning a Vanquish, but a DB9? No chance.

The red one here looks pretty stunning:

But for me I'd take a nearly new Vantage V8S (and a new Range Rover Sport) smile

Disagree. I prefer DB9 interior by far.

Another advantage is that Aston have worked hard it seems to eake out a bit more room from the basic platform. The Vanquish is noticeably roomier if you are tall , as I am.

The haptic switchgear in the new Vanquish is also funky. Haven't seen that before in a car. And at last they've ditched the dot matrix display.

The Vanquish is also a significantly better drive.

I must say I didn't realise Aston owners are so conservative and neophobic , judging by the comments here.

Same here. It is far more interesting in its detailing. Looks quite bespoke whereas the Vanquish is too bland and generic.

Makes no sense.

The Vanquish interior has switchgear which has haptic controls. No other car has this technology - so by definition this is the opposite of generic. The controls are highly distinctive. Unique in fact. Some people won't like them because they are new, but they certainly can hardly be called bland.

Have you actually tried a Vanquish?

Don't worry about Steve, I have noticed several comments from him over the last few months to be straight to the point! United States of the world syndrome I think

Welcome to the forum and good luck in your search for a Vanquish. Nobody usually agrees with George, so I would not take it to heart wink

Lots of differing opinions on here regarding the Vanquish, it seems to be a bit of a marmite car. Like you, I like the interior an while the front splitter did not light my fire initially, I have to say that I love the car. The only thing I
would change is the gearbox, but for a slushbox it is very, very good.

Wow, Where to begin.

I actually tried a used 2010 DB9 and a new Vanquish. Admittedly for a short 20 min spin only.

Liked both cars.

Vanquish had much better brakes. Gearbox felt a bit snappier. Car felt somehow lighter on its feet. Hard to describe but it did.

Vanquish had a much nicer interior, primarily because the seats are a bit lower and the interior seems to have liberated a extra inch or two of room everywhere.

Essentially, , the DB9 felt old and from a class below.

Ah, right.

You need to try the new DB9 then.

A much closer contest.

'I have never owned an Aston.'
For so many, it is a lifetime dream. Wow, when that dream comes true, it is really wonderful. Every drive is so special. We are a lucky lot.

Each Aston Martin has its followers, but some here are not too keen on the Vanquish. I think visually, it is a car that looks great in the flesh, perhaps better than in photographs. The colour of the Vanquish model does seem to be crucial. After launch, there were a number of cars, in what might be described politely as 'adventurous'. It certainly looks so much better, when the bare carbon fibre front, blends well with the overall colour. Get this wrong, and the appearance is not good.

Aston Martin owners have been used to smooth interior leather, so the new quilt is not popular with everyone. Maybe some Vanquish cars do have smooth leather.

The build costs are higher than a DB9, because of the carbon fibre body panels. However, as you state, some are now available at much more attractive prices.

Contact a dealer and drive one. Beware though, the dealers don't do 'hard sell'. It is the cars that do that.
