Picture Request - Tire Repair Kit On Db9/dbs ('09)
Discussion
This is a bit of a strange request but would anyone be able to snap a picture of their AM branded tire repair kit and send it my way? I recently used mine and when my car was in for service I told the dealer to just leave it as I would recharge the kit myself.
The kit in my car when I picked it up looks like the generic Continental one, not the original AM one which I wanted to keep to have all original pieces together with the car. I recall their being an AM logo on the original kit which is nowhere on the one in my car now. Any picture verifying this would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you all for your help

Not on mine
+1I've kept mine post sale and it is a useful generator for inflating all sorts of things

I have no intention of using the gunk as I'm informed that the tyre cannot be repaired afterwards.
Aston Martin do not recommend plugging punctures and I never met a Dealer who would do it - so I used a trusted Indy nearby.
One word of caution. If your gunk has passed its use-by date and you put your car in for a service at a Dealer they are within their rights to replace it and charge you handsomely for doing so. I always removed it beforehand

Is it,
A) Sensible to have an (accesory shop) generic inflator in the car?
Then if a puncture occurs, the original kit would remain untouched.
B) If an inflator is in the car (but out of date) at an MoT test, does that constitute a fail?
C) Wise never to repair a puncture on a performance car?

I'm sure TonyV12V will educate us on the MOT point, though I think I know the answer in the negative ??
As for the repair, a plug will only work in a certain part of the tyre and it must be done properly - including sanding the interior of the tyre and hoovering up the dust particles

I'm pretty sure the inflator in my 06 DB9 had some kind of Aston logo on it because when I was looking for a replacement I was told about the Conti kit being identical. If it had Conti on it, I would've known from the get go that I could buy a replacement from Conti.
That being said, the inflator in my 09 DBS, which has never been used, has no Aston markings on it whatsoever, just like in the photos above. Wouldn't surprise me if Aston stopped the practice of branding these since people would just go out and get a Conti kit any way.
Could be you did have an Aston-branded unit, but maybe now all of the replacements are not so branded. I did find it interesting that they are branded with Ford's logo, however: FoMoCo
