The threads are burred on the valves to my wheels. Can these be bought without buying the whole TPMS system?

Yup. TPMS valve stems.
Lots of places selling them. Make sure you get a UK based company. I bought some anthracite coloured ones and they arrived from the USA. Not a problem but took ages and got the import admin charge etc.
They start about £20 a set and go upwards depending on material, colour etc.

How do these TPMS valves actually work? How does one know they are set at the right pressure? My Vanquish is specified at 38psi, but surely that is 'cold' and changes as the tyres heat up? Why won't the sensors trigger? I'm a bit concerned about false readings having bought a 10 year old car with this technology......

Cheers

This is the bees-knees sort of kit. Made in the UK for the enthusiast and rather hi-tech relying on some serious technology.
