Hi guys, there's a chirping noise coming from the rear of the car (V8 Vantage 2010 SS).

Since there's no authorised service centre here, i've took the car to an independent and we've checked everything underneath the car and nothing seems to be loose. The noise does not have a regular pattern and just comes on for a while and then off (repeatedly - does not stop when the car warms up).

Strangely this noise has come up only a few weeks after a noise from the engine belt which was cured with silicone spray!

As mentioned above the noise is coming from the rear of the car!

Any ideas?

Have you checked for a trapped budgie? Often to be found lurking amongst nesting material in a snug corner of the boot.

Exhaust.

I've had two Vantages and various exhaust noises over the years. Common noise is either the heatshield chirping off it's mounts or the exhaust itself chirping off the exhaust pipe covers mounted in the bumper.

Thanks a lot! We've checked the heatshield but not the pipe covers!

Will have a look

Does the chirp only occur when turning at slow speeds but not while driving in a straight line?

No. It has no regular pattern. It did occur both on straight line, turns, slow & high speed

If it's just around corners I would also suggest brakes. Handbrake is a common issue and so are the metal of the pads rubbing on the discs.

Judging by what you say I doubt it's either.

Need adjusting with the wheels on the ground. Lots of dealers do it with the car jacked up, which makes the adjustment wrong, leaving pads dragging.
