targets must be tough?
Discussion
I received the following email this morning from a well known AM dealer. The tone is a little desperate but it might be handy if anyone wants a V12 Vantage S?
"Are any of you in a position to buy, register and take delivery of a brand new Aston Martin before 2014? To help us hit our 2013 Target.
V8 Vantage, V8 Vantage S, DB9, Rapide S, Vanquish or the *Brand New V12 S! We have a small selection of unregistered highly desirable specifications available. (*I have 1 unregistered showroom New V12 Vantage S which I have checked and have authorisation to sell due to exceptional circumstances. Normally this would not be available to sell as there have been no customer deliveries yet, first customer deliveries here for V12 S will be in January. So take advantage of this and be the first on the road from Mayfair with one!)
Please only reply if you are in a position to buy before the end of the year and let me know which car you would like.
If you do reply I will make the numbers work for you. We have to get 2 more cars registered by the end of this year to hit our group 2013 target.
I will look forward to your response.
Kindest Regards

Had an interesting chat with a dealer about the V12VS being advertised for sale - the subject of a recent thread on here
It's still being advertised surprisingly, as the dealer confirmed it's likely to be a member of staff who's made a mistake in putting it up publicly
Anyway, he suggested that relatively little discount is available on V12VS. Furthermore, they just sold their demonstrator, for more or less list. I expressed surprise as to why anyone would pay full list on a car they hadn't specced themselves, when for the sake of waiting a few months, they could have exactly the car they wanted for the same money - answer, not at all surprisingly - some people don't want to wait and aren't that bothered about the minutiae of spec
But as others have hinted at, wait a few months and one imagines, especially on dealer specced cars, one assumes you'll get 'normal Aston discounts'............

Yes, it must be the 'final sales push' for the year.
I have just received a letter, extolling the virtues of the V8 Vantage.
'Available from only £777 per month, with 0% APR for 36 months and three years free servicing,
V8 Vantage is closer than you think.'
It is probably closer than they think - just 40 yards away in my garage !

What!? I cannot believe my eyes. Is this genuine?
From my point of view as not only a dealer but also a lover of the brand this is so disheartening to read. Aston need to get a solid grip on this kind of marketing as it will not only destroy new car sales but seriously damage used residual values. How can a client wanting to buy new contemplate purchasing after this?
I am amazed AML allow such amateur marketing, it is so damaging to the brand.
Franchised dealers need to remember (as they have clearly forgotten), this is a specialist premier brand and not a high volume industry. I would not be surprised if the network is to be re aligned at some point, this sort of thing may be a sign of the beginning of a serious shake up.
If JCF wants to get in touch with me I would love to discuss further.

I was really keen on the V12Vs and all ready to trade in my V8 Vantage a few months ago but after trying to get a straight answer from this dealer and one other on depreciation concerns and possible discounts on the S I was getting fed up. The story from them bore no relevance to the knowledge gained on here or experiences of other AM owners. From my point of view as not only a dealer but also a lover of the brand this is so disheartening to read. In the end I bought a Maserati MC Stradale and will look at the V12S once it has been out for while. Getting an email like this from the same dealer giving a totally different story to that delivered a month before is just irritating to say the least.
