Hi all,

Please help. My 2007 v8 vantage coupe keeps cutting out. I travelled from Cambridge to Manchester today and the car cut out 4 times.

First time it did it, it flashed up every warning under the sun. After 5 minutes I could start it up again.

Next two times it cut out it flashed up "check battery disconnect switch".

Last time it went into crash mode then to normal mode.

Advice on what it could potentially be and what the cause is would be very much appreciated. I'm trying to get back down to Cambridge tomorrow and don't look forward to holding up the M1

Have you checked the battery disconnect switch?

Anything big and heavy in the boot?

First thing I did. Seems to work and not jammed or squashed by anything. No moisture around the switch. Pressing it seems to make it do it's usual thing and erasing settings.

After a lock unlock cycle it restarts again, although I'm wondering if that ha anything to do with it...

I'm wondering if it's to do with the age of the battery, except the car still starts without a fuss....

Sounds like an intermittent connection fault.

Wilmslow are great with weird faults like that. I had exceptional people sort my issues and the bill was remarkably less than I thought it would be.

I'm in at wilmslow now. I'll update this thread should it help any other members. Maybe a sticky if it comes to light.

Interestingly, I spoke to the technician and he recalls a similar shutdown caused by a Faulty sensor in the steering rack.

Well no faults found despite 2 a4 pages of fault codes. Cambus and all modules check out ok. A very helpful PH member has suggested that it may be a faulty airbag deployment sensor that could e triggering it. That will bey next port of call.

Strangely, sat nav has gone haywire. Turns out it has precisely ZERO satellites tuned into it. No wonder...

So on a related note , has anyone had this happen to NAV? wink

Oh hello there!! Seemed to be going well until I got close to home - until then I drove v. conservatively. It cutout when I left the motorway....

Thanks for looking after me in Wilmslow - I look a complete state at the moment!!! I crashed out on the couch at the dealership....

I seem to be identifying a pattern - the car doesn't seem to like sharp corners. On every occurrence it seems to be after a taking a left turn after a roundabout and giving it some beans. On the snake pass, where I was stuck for ages ( bit scary with lorries bearing down...) it might have been the corners that triggered it.

I'm wondering if it is a DSC/Traction control issue?

Tis a good suggestion except all those bits are tested and reconnected again. The Techs are stumped by this one.

Lovely car you have there BTW, I was going to go for the same colour, but chickened out and went for battleship grey for resale.... That was 6 years ago wink

Have a look at the Bamford Rose thread - I had a similar problem.

Hi John. May I ask you to recall how long ago the topic came up. There are reams of info on upgrades on that thread and I fear for my wallet if I keep reading... smile

edit...

Located your thread after a bit of reading. The symptoms seem to ring true to my scenario. Did you get the same crazy warning light issue that I was getting? PATs malfunction, brake failure, engine overheat, check battery disconnect, Crash mode etc......

Or did it just shut down?

Just shut down. I don't recall a range of lights and error messages...

Hi John,

Thanks for extra info. Seems that your issue is slightly different to mine. I've figured out that sharp left under throttle are causing the issue. The current workaround is to go right at roundabouts all the way round....

Until this is resolved I shall name my car ZOOLANDER....

Need to get your dealer to stop taking the crazy pills. Good luck.
