Now I know why I bought an Aston
Discussion
Just back from an overnighter at Cameron House in Loch Lomond with the OH and had a "fairly" eventful journey to say the least. This is the first time since I bought the car in June that the missus has travelled more than 10 or so miles - let her take it out once with one of her GF's when she went for afternoon tea at a posh local hotel (after a 30 minute lesson on how to use SS & hand brake!!)
So.... we left Aberdeen at 9am on a damp Wednesday morning and headed south for Stirling on the A90 cruise set at 79mph and trip computer reset to erase the 15.6MPG average. Nothing eventful to write about apart from the OH pointing out that the radio sounded a bit "basey" and the seat was very low!!
Turned off after Dunblane and then the trip started to get just a bit better now we were off the motorway. First event was when we stopped at a petrol station for the loo. As I walked in a country, game keeper looking type chap walked passed me and said "Nice car mate - well done to you" only managed to reply with thanks very much, but oh did that put a smile on my face.
So we left there and headed on our way. The roads were damp so & with the OH "co-driving" things were kept fairly sedate, however I have to say I still really enjoyed the car on the twisty bits and the brakes are impressive. Overtook several vehicles on the way and the acceleration is truly outstanding - oh and the wee remote button for the exhaust was used prior to every overtake. Then the next event happened minor though it may be I saw a silver DBS (I think) coming towards me so I flashed - AND SO DID HE!!! That was the next big smile for the day.
Then the final event that was the most eventful of the day (driving that is). As we came into Balloch a police van pulled out of a junction behind us and followed us through the town and out. As we got back onto the national speed limit part of the road we were doing 45mph and I had a wee look to see about passing but as we were only a mile or so away from the hotel I decided not to. Then the blue lights came on!! At first I thought he wants past so pulled over - nope!! Then got the flash of headlights from him and the cursory "pull over" hand gesture. We pulled into a layby and I sat wondering what on earth I could have done wrong for a constable to pull me over. I wound down the window and the first thing he said was sorry to have had to pull you over sir but are you aware your MOT ran out in September this year!! Well the shocked look on our faces said it all and he replied with, I know someone with a car like this does not intentionally drive it without an MOT can you please come to our van.
The two policemen couldn't have been politer and said that they had to give me statutory fine as there electronic gizmo number plate reader was audited. Of course I said fair play and took the £100 fine on the chin. They asked where I was going to which I told them and they then asked where would I be going the next day to which I told them home. They said that technically you are only allowed to drive the car to a testing station without an MOT and as long as I booked an MOT for my return home then it would be OK to drive the 500 yards to the hotel and then straight back home the next day. He even said if you get stopped going home here is my number - very nice coppers.
Anyway had a very relaxing overnighter at Cameron House then back to Aberdeen - no events to report and the car is now on the way for an MOT this morning!!

Every drive in an Aston is an event and the novelty wont wear off. A friendly reaction from people who don't even know you, just because they like your car or seeing another Aston and acknowledging one another are highlights of ownership that few brands can achieve

A new F Type wouldn't need an MOT for three years and your missus wouldn't require instruction on how to use the gearbox.
Mind you, then your story would read: "We drove to a hotel. It was dark outside."
Is there a secret game of Mornington Crescent going on in this forum, where every thread has to mention the F-Type, Bamford Rose or Bincenzo with/without moustache?Mind you, then your story would read: "We drove to a hotel. It was dark outside."

Nobody told me about this rendezvous.
Makes me wonder if my ladyboys are doing a bit of moonlighting.
Then again,it does not sound like my ladyboys, they like a bit of style, certainly do not like performing in a layby, sounds more like Nic and Bins having a bit of rough.

Can we get a PH AM calendar made up, with that photo as, presumably, November (I don't know what the other 11 months would have - perhaps a BR manifoldclutchexhaust as January).
I've already done my own 6 foot print of it, but the calendar could be a charidee money raiser.
What a good idea, maybe on the lines of those calendars with us posing in the buff with strategically placed objects ,although that won't be necessary for George as he only has a tiddler.I've already done my own 6 foot print of it, but the calendar could be a charidee money raiser.
Maybe Molly will be up for it ,possibly a duo with Rob ?
