Went out in car yesterday and it took ages for the heater to warm up, like 15 miles before air started blowing anywhere near warm. Temperature gauge was on cold for ages then went to just under halfway after 10-15 mins. Not had this before, is it a sign that the thermostat is on the way out?

Sounds like it. Issues with thermostats on the earlier V8 Vantages were a common problem.
I had to replace mine as I experienced similar issues to yours

On the frequently asked Questions, it gives two part numbers for a Jag, does this thread relate to the Vantage, if so which one will fit?
