This is a post for a favour. I will pay your fuel costs....

I am near both the Cornwall and Somerset borders...

I have a double garage with large single door with a slight slope_ down to it. I want to purchase an AMV8 V8V (55-07) Coupe or early Roadster (been looking for a while), but need to make sure it will go into the garage (width and length is not a problem, just the potential front valance clearance).

I have a S1 Lotus Elise (standard suspension) that goes in fine (I reverse it in), so I am sure it'll be okay. Obviously, I do not want to buy an V8V unless it can go in the garage, as I'd want to keep it garaged.

You may be reading this and know a fellow enthusiast who wants to sell their AMV8, if so please send me an email with details.

Send a PM to IanV12VR - he's the AMOC Area Rep so may have details of an owner near to you.

Unfortunately, I don't live anywhere near you to help out with your measurements.

But for future reference, the abbreviation 'AMV8' usually refers to the V8 from the '70s and '80s. 'V8V' is used for the Gaydon manufactured car from 2005 to present.

Dumb question but can't you just use a tape measure?

Might be the angle of the dangle rather than the outright length that OP is seeking smile

I was in a similar situation to you, Adrian.

Using the wheelbase dimension and ground clearance, I joined three pieces of timber together, so I could then see if a Vantage would ground.

It revealed that the top portion of my driveway, did require some reshaping.

You could use the same technique to see if the car overhangs (more likely front) will scrape the ground. If there is a problem, a sheet of timber and coconut matting should solve that issue.

Good luck with your search.

They are fantastic cars. Mine is having it's first winter hibernation, but I did sit in it today, whilst taking the odometer reading. Oh that wonderful leather smell and beautiful cockpit.

Yes. Hence why I mentioned my S1 Elise goes in no problems, hence why I think a V8V will go in :-) without hitting the front valance. The length and width of my garage is not an issue.
