I've a 2013 vantage and while not a burning issue now I've been looking at nav upgrades as much as anything because the speed limits are wrong on quite a few roads plus I guess the camera locations change over time.

The online sites who sell the.. erm.. 'backup' disks seem to say they only work on the Volvo hdd version installed between 2007 and 2009. I can't find anything on cars built after then although the definitive guide says they changed to a garmin system from 2011.

Any thoughts?

Ps.. I do find it amusing that it reads road numbers out like 'the b four thousand and fifty nine'

I have the same set up, it's GVN54 in Garmin speak. I updated the system with a SD card supplied by Aston. It was about £90 and easily fits in the slot on top of the unit, it's on the left in the boot under the carpet on the upper bulge. I looked into downloading to a SD card and gave up. Have a look by googling 'downloading garmin maps to SD card". If you are ok with formatting fat32 and knowing which file name to alter to show where there are junctions then you are a much better man than me! I gave up and parted with the cash. The garmin helpline were great and can answer any questions about the maps.

Thanks - I'm reasonably technical (or once was) so I'll probably buy the first one, see what's on the card and then see if I can maintain it myself. The maps will be copyright but the speed camera database is available and it would be nice to get the speed limits correct as I'm pretty sure the boys in blue won't look upon the car being a legitimate reason for not reading the road signs, but then whats the point of an alert if it either doesn't go off or goes off to easily.
