Very new to the forum, and debating whether or not to take the punge on a brand new aston Martin v8 roadster. Probably some really basic questions

-can it be used as a daily drive?
-is it is good as people say?
-what is the sat nav and ICE like?

It's proposed to be meteorite grey with black interior and white stitching........

Welcome any thoughts and comments.

Thanks

My mate runs a 2007 roadster as a daily driver and he hasn't had any problems at all

Mines a daily drive, supermarkets, runs out etc, only caveat is I like to know the parking is safe!

Drive superbly, attract lots of attention, even people want to take photos of themselves next to it.

They are not the fastest, or track cars, but have a magnificent sense of occasion to drive.

If brand new some of them have fixture and fit issues, which goes with being hand assembled, but Astons warranty is superb and nothing is a problem in the period.

I love mine 4 years on, despite going through several minor issues in warranty, all put right.

Generally the running gear is considered reliable - they are not Italian Divas, and are easy to live with day to day.

If you go for it, enjoy the experience of buying and collecting and taking home, oh and welcome to the forum too!

Hi all, thanks for the quick response. I kinda have to the make the decision over the weekend and is will be saying good bye to a 997 targa 4 porsche. I also looked at the new 335i 4 series, but it's not the a same sense of occasion.

Anyone had any issues with the navigation and telephone prep stuff?

It is a very good brand......

Great car. Just a thought - could you stretch to a Vantage S Roadster?

I drove the standard V8 Vantage Coupe, then the S version - I found the S to be significantly better in many respects.

Meteorite's a great colour, and I would always go black interior. Completely subjective of course.

Another idea is an SP10 Roadster. (Basically an S in Ceramic black with Alcantara). Might be able to get a good deal if you like that colour etc.

Have you considered a colour? Astons in 50 shades of grey are rather ubiquitous, there are some stunning reds and blues available. biggrin

Thanks guys. They have thrown a trip to gaydon into the mix also to see it being built.

Bit car obsessed so this has to be right, and not owned an aston before. What's the servicing like on a new one for the first few years? I don't think the technology is as advanced as mercedes or bmw......does that matter?

Go for it, you will love it. If you do want to go down the grey route, go for ceramic grey.

If it has to be a grey or silver one, then it should at least be sparkly! Lol

Work out what gearbox you want and try one if it's the sportshift -can be an acquired taste especially compared to the bmw gear boxes.

Living with one depends on what you ask it to do. My daily driver needs to do 20k a year or more and a big diesel bmw does that for me perfectly. 10k a year the aston would work. My aston does 8k when it can

The v8vs is widely held as the best (the v12 owners will chime in) unless you go down the aftermarket route (bamford rose mods).

But essentially you're buying into a feeling, image, culture. There are technically better cars (R8, 997, 991) so unless you buy into what aston stands for as a brand you're better off elsewhere, but if you get it, buy the best you can afford would be my advice

Totally get that. 90% certain to go for it. It is a cool and unique brand. V8v is kind of my limit financially, however I do want new.......

While the colour combo you suggest does look good and is the most common you will see, have a good look at the other colours out there. There are some stunning options.

Oh, this is ceramic grey

Amerthyst red is one to look at too.

If you're looking new then there were some amazing deals last year - but based on cars in stock and before the end of year. It maybe the same now and I just fell for the spiel although the numbers fund the real talking.

G'day Mark - black leather with white stitching scratchchin I would need to see a picture.

I went to a Dealer 4 years ago to buy a 1 year old DB9 and I was offered a brand new V8V for the same price - £89k. FFS do not pay list price.

I stayed with the DB9, mainly because I'm an adult now hehe, but also because you will have niggles with new cars just as you will with old cars. The 3 year original warranty is excellent and you will want for nothing. The servicing regime is strictly 12 months and we would advise on the best deal at that time.

Enjoy the search smile

Try both 6MT and ASM2
I would not have a manual V8 after my S plus it doesn't have the stupid reverse gear ratio
One rule with a roadster no rain = roof down wink
