Hi Guys

I'm looking at taking the plunge into a V8 Vantage Roadster, however I was wondering if anyone could answer a question I have?
I know the fuel consumption got a little better when the V8 Vantage was revised.
I'm currently looking at an 08 V8 Vantage Roadster. Will this have the slightly better MPG? I know its not a lot, but I guess any bit helps on these v8's

Cheers

I think there was a small, tiny, little, bitty shift post 08 MY onwards - like 7% under optimum (e.g not real) conditions. Drive it gently and you'll get 17mpg, drive it properly and get about 15mpg.. wink

heheyes I've done 23k miles in a 4.7 and NEVER got over 20 mpg.
OP seriously forget about mpg, it that is a concern you are not going to drive it enough!

I've had 3 V8's . Driven over 30,000 miles always average 21-22MPG. Seem to knock out rear tyres in about 4000 miles, fronts in about 6000. On a trip from Hereford to the Channel Tunnel I would expect 26MPG travelling at Motorway speeds. Quite what Mikey does to achieve such a low figure though city driving would effect the result. Even on the Alpine Tour (3600 miles in 9 days) with really hard use Pearl averaged 21.5 MPG

On a recent trip of about 300 miles (95% motorway) I got 24 mpg. But normally I get about 18 mpg to 20 mpg.

I don't subscribe to the idea that "every little helps". I view it as "a little makes fk all difference".

If you're worried about a couple of extra mpg I'd look at another car. You do know it's got a 4.7 litre engine, don't you ?

I have an 08 plate Vantage Roadster, car has averaged 17.5 mpg over the last 22 months and 10,000 miles.
Mine is a 4.3 litre - first registered March 1st 2008.
I thought the first 4.7's were 09 plate ?

If MPG is of any concern to you, you're looking at the wrong car my friend.
Perhaps sir would like a nice Audi TT TDi? wink

Seriously though, you don't look at this kind of car with an eye on MPG. It's a lot lower than my 997 C2S was, but then it's a hell of a 'better' car in my opinion.

If you are worried about mpg then don't get a roadster - as soon as you drop the top the mpg will reduce. As soon as the sun is out (well actually for many if it is not raining) you will want to put the roof down and the petrol consumption will increase.

I'm averaging 21mpg and the roof is off if it's not raining. I don't like the way it drops to 5mpg when accelerating hard though.....

My 07 V8V average 18.5-19mpg, motorway (70-85mph) 22mpg.
My 11 V8V average 19-20mpg, motorway (70-85mph) 25mpg.
DB9 average 17-18mpg, motorway (70-85mph) 22mpg.
All three average less than 14-15mpg when hooning. Although I don't get through tyres as quick as the hooligan above. wink

Well Mikey - we get better fuel economy because coupe beats roadster on that score. The tyres tho' - thats a bit of a mystery scratchchin

How about we spend a bit of time investigating that one

idea - I know lets head over to the Alps and compare notes there this summer biggrin

Mine gets slighter better mpg than my Range Rover. In that respect it's almost economical to run. thumbup

Deliveries of the first customer 4.7 cars, were in September 2008 (Model Year 2009)
so therefore '58 plate'.

To OP.
The Sports Shift gearbox is a Marmite option.
Make sure you drive, including parking, stop-start traffic, to be sure you like it.

LOL

I have the same logic, every time I use the Vantage for a long journey , the MPG is better than V8 RRS, so it appears more economical smile

Vantage has averaged 18mpg over 65k miles so far ....fuel is the smallest expense so don't worry about it unless its wildly different to similar cars and theres something wrong with the one you have
