To Wrap, or not to Wrap?
Discussion
I've no experience of wrapping myself, but I've never heard of anything positive about it. Problems seem to be that after a couple of years it starts peeling off and you can see the joins and when you finally take it off you need to have it resprayed as it makes such a mess of the paintwork. As I say, I've no experience myself but I don't think I'd bother.

This is probably only the case if a poor job was done in the 1st place... If a vehicles has been prepped correctly prior to the film being put on it should last untold amount of time. There are good and bad ones I have seen, some are excellent in that you really cant tell what the previous colour was, door shuts etc can all be done... Very clever... If done right....
I would only have a clear wrap, most likely a matt clear film, this protects the paint from all the elements... Plus with a matt clear film you retain the original colour but with a slight difference in appearance...

This would only be true with bad film and a bad installer. There should be no reason for a respray. In fact, it would help preserve the paint in like new condition. Jockman said:
Absof
kinlutely !!!
Go for it - your car - do what you like.
Use a reputable company, see examples of their work, check the quality around the doors and vents for tell-tale signs.
If you can't find your doors and vents post-wrap then you've probably chosen the wrong company

Though grey wrap on Meteorite may not be noticeable I'd go for more contrast

I hung around an audi r8 forum for a while to see if I liked the atmosphere and they all seemed to be dentists or people that wanted to wrap their cars
You might get more input from the Audi R8 forum
Wrapping doesn't do it for me and I don't feel it suits the brand, but that's just personal taste.
I've seen a nice chrome R8 and a matt orange R8 - both YUK. I guess the central roof part would work just don't go for fake carbon fibre - that would be trying too hard to be something its not.
My son 'Shmee150'/Tim had a wrap on his Audi R8 for a year. I had the impression that it was advised not to leave it on for more than a year though this can vary depending on the specific material used. He had it taken off by the same people who put it on, and the paint underneath was in excellent condition. The new owner of the R8 has had it re-wrapped, and Tim has had his 'new' 12C wrapped, all by the same guys whom Tim rates very highly and who now trade as (I think) Dub Customs.

I'll just pop THIS here...
^^^^^ Good post ^^^^^
Wraps = craft blades = inevitable micro slices in the paintwork crevices, which surely cause the aluminum panels to start oxidizing: a good polish isn't going to sort it either.
Posted this point a few times, here's your proof. I wouldn't ever have my car wrapped or buy one that had been.

Seen that link before
It is one of the reasons I went for Venture Shield because it is pre cut

t's still more for the Audi/Lambo boys though
Have to admit, I do find the majority of car wraps a little bit nasty. Aside from those who do it for paint protection reasons, and then it's usually a clear protective film instead, there generally seems to be a lot of matt/pearlescent/flip/chrome LOOK AT ME nonsense going on.
Or white, which is just as bad...
